Fertility rate in Gaza is 3.6 - 7.0 children per childbearing aged woman, each of the last 30 years.

Makes no sense to have non-stop kids in poverty, no job, region run by religious terrorists.
What’s going on?

The poorest countries of the world also have the highest fertility rates. It’s always been the case.

Contraception and abortion are usually restricted by "authorities", in Gaza case - Hamas.

Women have zero rights in Palestine. Their role is to pop out babies.

That sounds more like the Jewish settlers who don’t think women should learn to read or leave the house, just make babies.

The percentage of educated women is one of the highest in the world with Palestinians.

Female literacy and education rates are nearly identical for Israelis and Palestinians. However women’s percentage in the workforce is much higher in Israel.

Percentage in the workforce is higher in Israel more generally relative to Palestine. Hard to create jobs when there's a constant fear of attack and bombs dropping.

Fear of attack like what happened at a musical festival to innocent civilians?

Hmm …

What is the greater tragedy?

A. 1,125 dead Israelis, over 300 of whom were active duty security services and another several hundred of whom had served dishonorably in the IDF.

or

B. 35,000 dead women and children in Gaza, none of whom voted for Hamas.

No one buys Hamas’ reports of the number of dead in this conflict.

Amen.

Shitty country created on a shitty premise. They can't rely on the "we're victims!" narrative lie forever.

Israel is the only European settler colonial project in the world remaining and the only one to cry victim while ethnic cleansing and genociding the colonized, indigenous population.

Jews’ ties to this area go back thousands of years. It’s a lie to suggest this is about Europeans.

The fact that Egypt and Jordan don’t want them even when the Queen of Jordan is Palestinian should tell you something. If the people that know them best aren’t fighting for them, then why should I?

Also they’ve been “starving” since this all began.

They were also “starving” before their Hamas leadership ordered the October invasion, killings, and hostage taking in Israel.

What happened the millions upon millions of dollars in food aid that went into Gaza? Did Hamas steal it and sell it on the black market to raise money to buy more weapons? Or did Hamas keep it for themselves?

Hey, what is your experience building capitalistic societies within concentration camp confines and under a complete 24/7 land, sea and air blockade, enforced by shoot-on-sight protocols?

Under these uNBearAbLE conditions they managed to build a massive, sophisticated tunnel system in Gaza.
All while the population lived in poverty.

I mean, sure, if you believe Israeli propaganda. But what kind of a dumb F troglodyte believes literally ANYTHING asserted by Israel? After all, we’re talking about the biggest sorry sack of shite liars in the history of man.

Sophisticated tunnels? To believe that, you must also believe - as prerequisite - that the people of Israel are the most obtuse morons on the planet, imposing a blockade on an area less than 1.5% of their own size yet unaware of what’s going on in that locked-down strip.

I choose not to believe that. Therefore, propaganda (as usual). The dug trenches snd some very crude tunnels, apparently.

What it took to do that wouldn’t have been sufficient to build anything of substance, much less Monaco East.

Stick to something you’re good at, like edging yourself to IDF genocide porn.

You sound wacko posting in language like this. The cursing and name calling doesn’t promote your point of view - it makes your posts read as if you have no supporting arguments and instead resort to nonsense.

NP to this thread. They are making cogent points, and you’re whining to justify inexcusable cruelty, which I guess is your thing.

The most recent Pew polling has your perspective on the wane. It’s clear you’re worried with very good reason.

Huh? I didn’t make any cruelty posts. Where did you get that? You don’t have any idea what my positions are.

I’m pointing out that cursing and inflammatory language like troglodyte is ineffective arguing because it reads like a retreat for someone that can’t debate on the merits.

Just like you are doing by trying to twist this around on me.

Neither cursing nor personal attacks are persuasive to people.

Please just give it up. I’m so tired of the constant wannabe moderation from and by people like you. Let people make their arguments. Let them show what they care about. If its a problem, and you’re an actual functional adult, ignore and report to Jeff.

Even if it’s 1/2 of the reports (which I doubt)-that’s a whole lot of dead women and children in Gaza. Plus the foreign aid workers who the IDF accidentally killed as they tried to distribute food and medicine. So in your world the lives of 20k Palestinians are worth much less than 1,125 dead Israelis? There is a name for people who think that way….

October 7. It’s the difference between self defense and unprovoked merciless terror.

The ethos underlying that response is why you have never understood peace and why you never will. Your existence of endless conflict with others is a biological failsafe to ensure that individuals that think like you cannot amass in sufficient numbers to cause irreparable damage.

Thank goodness for that.

The Pew polling shows the majority of Americans across ages have a negative view of Israel. Not of Jewish people, of the state. Sort of the opposite of Baghdad Bob and your ellipses.

It’s legitimately shocking to me how many posters here lack decency and morality when it comes to starved Palestinians and the Israeli blockades. It’s just absolutely insane. I have a child who is 10, and is reading Anne Frank’s diary. How little humans learn over time.

Ilan Pappe and Norman Finkelstein and Noam Chomsky and Amnesty International and the UN and a majority of Americans and Spaniards and Irish people and hell, an apparent majority of people in non-Muslim countries, are ALL done with this heinous cruelty. Is the Senator from Maryland a college-aged agitator or AOC, or is he in fact a fairly centrist party politician who has said e-f’ing-nough? Is EVERYONE antisemitic?

What do you do now, that your arguments have died on the vine?

Wars result in unintended civilian casualties. If Hamas hadn't attacked on October 7th, none of these deaths would have happened. Also, Hamas should stop firing missiles into Israel and accept a 2-state solution that has been offered on 5 separate occasions. Stop advocating for the destruction of Israel. It's not going anywhere. If you have a problem with Israel existing, talk to the British about it (oh, and the UN recognizes Israel as a sovereign nation, so there's that).

The Economist just published an article saying the actual number of dead is actually much much higher. Why? Because Gaza does not have equipment to lift/search the rubble. So there thousands of bodies still buried under all the rubble.

60 percent of Americans support US support for Israeli military until the hostages are returned.

Gallup has higher support for Israel compared with Palestinians.
