McLean leaving FVU

Then why didn’t they say that? It’s not hard to say “MYS will field teams in both the current GA League and the newly announced GA Aspire League.” Instead, they said only the latter, and sprinkled around lots of ambiguous references to GA.

They really don't need to cater to people's reading/comprehension abilities. They are joining GA, end of story.

Your second sentence may be right, but, if you think their message clearly said they have both GA and GA Aspire, then you shouldn’t be commenting on other people’s reading comprehension abilities.

Was this move by McLean a way to show they did not like ECNL forcing them to merge with brave?

Your post doesn't make sense, take the remnants of NVA?!? and staple them onto GFR. Did you mean FVU and not NVA

It makes a lot of sense, but you don't seem to understand the background of these unions and who really has more 'weight' with ECNL. GFR can be an option to both unions.

McLean didn't appreciate the pressure ECNL put on them last year and they weren't convinced with the whole premise of FVU. They did it so that they don't abandon their seniors. The move to MLSN is a strategic, they are betting on the long term.

ECNL will ask Arlington to extend their reach into Fairfax as FVU dissolves.

But can’t see how ECNL doesn’t place a Loudoun team. Arlington and VDA are just to far. Not say a few won’t make the trip but not realistic for many.

Not only are the McLean girls going to stay at FVU… the ECNL-RL McLean squad and Pre-ECNL youngers will make a mass exodus. Likely Vienna, Arlington and BRYC will be their destinations. Those tryouts just got interesting. How much you want to bet that Vienna and BRYC will stab their current players in the throat for some McLean rejects.

Vienna tryouts were interesting last year for (at least) 2012G after formation of McBrave resulting in fewer encl slots. TONS of MYS families came out with very few offers going to their players, mostly for Vienna’s NCSL team, not ECNL-rl. For ECNL-rl 3 offers extended, 2 players came over, 1 stayed at Mclean. So not the throat stabbing of Vienna players for MYS “rejects” (ouch) as suggested. Check out standings - Vienna is second ranked. McLean is 9th.

What does GFR offer though? Their u-littles teams are only recently competitive and only after serious recruitment by a few coaches. Many of those recruited players are already gone at the 2013-2015 age groups. Recruit mercenaries and what do you expect?

Or maybe it’s the entire teams they took in from disgruntled parents that took kids from one club to another? Or NM’s kids from his old club that were merged in?

GFR is a mess internally and just a mishmash of teams thrown together to try and resemble a whole club.

All of this is terrible. Using kids as currency so that club brass can keep or increase their salaries. And not just GFR but the entire youth landscape.

So Arlington will somehow use FFX County fields? Makes sense.

They also use Marshall and Quantum fields, which are very close to LP and very good fields. FWIW.

What about the boys side, move to mls-next?

No way ECNL kills off FVU right away. The ECNL brass got caught by surprise with McLean bailing and it’s too late to form a new unions from thin air, so they will ride it out for now.

But, if the boys results don’t improve in fall and/or there is slippage on the girls side, enter GFR and whatever other clubs they can tack on - Herndon, Vienna, Valor. ECNL would love to love to wedge a club between Loudoun and McLean.

A lot of people on this board (beyond this thread) seem to think ECNL is substantially better than GA, particularly with respect to college recruiting. If that’s true, current developments will be great for FVU, as they will keep their MYS girls and pick up some from NVA. VDA will also benefit from picking up some VDA girls. Eliminating an ECNL club will help the closest remaining ECNL clubs.

Or could out another club in the mix?

Who cares who the member clubs are? VSA, Herndon, and PWSI are terrible but VDA is good because players come from all over to what they perceive to be a solid club. FVU needs to develop itself and the kids will come regardless of who the member clubs are. Their job just got easier with NVA leaving ECNL.
