Clearly you’re not a fed, so why are you on this thread? |
This is not always true. Definitely pay taxes where you live and work depending on certain factors. |

I think the Trump administration's position is that people who are not committed to their jobs need to start looking. They use willingness to be in person as a measure of that. It's an imperfect measure, to be sure, but there aren't a lot of good measures to be had. Performance reviews are not reliable and also there isn't anything the administration can do to fix that. But they can try to get people back in the offices.
They also want to revitalize the business districts that relied on people coming to work. Good or bad, we will all be better off for thriving brick and mortar businesses and less Chinese Amazon products. I don't think it's a bad thing to shake this up. Change is hard. We may need to move to a smaller place to make it work. I don't know, but I try to understand the motivations for things and believe there is some good here. |
| We have an all hands meeting today. I've been working remotely since 3/20. I work on a small team with 8 other team members. I've been wanting to go back in for awhile now, but none of the others are. We all work above 40+ hours and do whatever it takes to get the job done. This is in IT now. If we're made to go back in productivity will definetely take a hit, and we'll use some very senior folks. Some who have moved to GA, SFL etc. Oops, time for my 8am meeting. |

no, their stated position is to “torture” federal employees. (As stated by the OMB nominee Vought.) and the purpose is to score political points by attacking what is perceived as a Democratic institution. |
The PP claimed “if you live in VA or MD and your duty station is DC it’s definitely tax fraud.” This is laughably false. Stop trying to move the goalposts and justify PPs ignorance. |
Same. Worked as a defense contractor for 15+ years, three different companies, multiple projects. Everyone refers to it as time card. Obviously it’s a portal, not a physical card you punch in/out with. |
And there is nothing good about putting more cars on the road. |
How will we be better going into stores. That takes time and costs more. And, the commute is bad for the environment. |
If you want to go it, great, go but don’t impose it on others. And, don’t expect someone to work more than 40 hours plus commute when you can get that extra work time in instead of the commute. |
Right. Mine has different timecodes whether we're teleworking or onsite. If I work two days onsite, I'll charge two days to the onsite code and the rest to the telework code. Perhaps I'll be fired for insubordination but I'm not sure why people are so hung up on the time cards. (Which is what in my office we colloquially call the online system where we enter the hours we work each day, charged appropriately to the program and the working position.) |
+1 If you are a Fed living in MD or VA and your duty station is DC, you don't pay DC income taxes. This is an arrangement with the District, I'm not sure if this applies to more states. But different states have different arrangements. When I lived in MD and worked in DE, and when I lived in VA but worked in MD, I definitely filed in both states. |
