It's okay. It's not fashionable but it's inoffensive. A little figure skater-y but that's a standard evening wear look. Her hair looks weird and I think she should have worn it up.

On the subject of her hair, I appreciate that she doesn't dye it -- I have a similar amount of gray and don't dye it either. But it really wouldn't take that much effort to make her hair look smooth and shiny and healthy. Again, I have similar hair and it can easily look as hers does (and often does like that when I'm just dropping off kids at school or going to the beach or something) but it doesn't take that much effort to make it look very nice. And that's just me at home doing a hair mask and giving myself a blowout with some midrange products to keep it smooth. It's what I do if I'm meeting with clients, going to a party, or having my photo taken for something. I'm not getting highlights or having extensions put in or anything -- just putting a little extra time and effort into my hair so it looks nice in a situation where looking particularly professional or photogenic is helpful.

She can do what she wants but it's so weird to me that she wouldn't want to just look a bit more polished. We have the technology!

Love the inaugural ball dress! She looks beautiful!

Yes, she looks beautiful

Agree! Hair, makeup, dress - gorgeous.

That's how much of a rookie/unprepared she is for her role, she doesn't even have a headshot for the White House website.

I asked this during convention but no one responded- how much of her makeup/hair/clothing issues are a function of real life versus TV life. Meaning, if we saw her in real life, we’d think she looks like nice. But with the professional lighting, cameras, etc, the mistakes become more glaring. Or things like a normal amount of makeup end up looking like none.

Maybe she doesn’t want the glam up and wants to visibly be different from this pack - signifying she’s there, supporting her husband, but she’s not one of them

I actually think he is significantly better looking than her, and that's saying something because he's not that cute either.

This is an utterly insane take. You either have very poor vision or horrendous taste but I'm betting it's both.

I think they are both average. She improves her appearance with makeup. Her clothes are not well fitted. Ultimately she is still average.

I hate all the MAGAs but I think she is pretty. She probably has not given a lot of thoughts to her cloths till now, just buying off the rack. It is harder for short people to dress. She just needs cloths fitted for her figure. Comparing her to M is ridiculous, since M is a gold digger selling her look (not that she looked that good lately).

She isn't actually short. She's probably medium height. She just looks short because Trump, Melania, the trump kids, JD, etc. are all extremely tall.

I don’t like the dress. It’s not terrible, I just don’t like the things that looks like pointy Christmas tinsel. Feel like it was a missed opportunity for something more elegant.

That doesn’t answer my question. Plus the effort she’s putting in to step it up suggests that she does want to look her best even if her style is different than the Trump world.

I don't think so. I think more likely, she just doesn't understand yet that there are rules to this new role. Stupid stuff like, put on enough makeup that you look good in pictures.

Really? I'm one of Usha's biggest fashion haters but that is actually one of her better looks.

I like it too. Flattering color and cut but some interesting details. Her make up is not my favorite but not bad.

She doesn't have good skin, large patches of melasma and very dark undereye circles. She needed better foundation and a brighter lip.

I love her outfit, think it's the bad hair and makeup that make her look a little dowdy.

Way too much product on her hair, which is styled in an unflattering way. Earrings look silly and eye makeup looks messy not polished.

So comical. I bet you're the same poster who criticized her last year for not looking polished enough, not doing her hair (to your specifications, of course), and not wearing enough makeup. She looked great. The one strapless dress was a little ill-fitting up top, but not horrible. All of her other dresses have been on point, as has her hair and makeup.

Her strapless dress was boring. It did the job but was not remarkable. They have the money and time to be remarkable.

Her pink coat was a cool color for January. The scarf looked ridiculous no matter the designer.

The boots were pretty yet made her legs look like those of en elephant.

The pink coat is pretty, I wish it was more fitted. And also should the scarf be tucked under the belt? I think that looks weird.

I think the problem is she looks like she's playing dress-up and hasn't figured out how to just wear clothes. Like look at Kamala - she looks normal. That's because she wears clothes like this all the time - knows what she's comfortable in, what works for her. Usha is, I guess, new to being in the public eye and so she's like the intern at work whose skirts are either too short and tight or too frumpy or too something, because she does't know just how to buy and wear clothes appropriate for the setting. (I was that intern, long past being an intern.)

Like this coat is pretty, the color is pretty - it's a little too big, she looks uncomfortable, it's the wrong color for a grown woman who is also an accomplished lawyer, etc.

DP. It's a beautiful color for her. Accomplished grown women are allowed to wear pretty, flattering, feminine colors. Michelle Obama wore a pretty yellow to one of her husband's inaugurations. Hillary Clinton wore a bright pink coat to one of Bill's. Usha Vance looks chic, beautiful, and very much like an accomplished grown woman.

Melania wore powder blue at the last one too.

You're right - and I loved that suit too! Beautiful colors.

I dislike Mel but that was a great dress choice. Of course, she took the idea from Jackie O…so kudos to Jackie for Mel’s dress!

Do you...do you think there's only one person here who thinks Usha can't style herself properly???

Usha has styled herself impeccably. I'm so sorry you know this deep down but can't bring yourself to admit it.

You must know her or something because she is not impeccably styled. Ivanka’s Eva Braun dress modeled on Meghan Markel’s famous green dress looked much better.

The BRF is styled much better.

The only good looking person in those photos is VP Vance. The rest are a weird mash up. Mel has a weird filter and Don looks deranged.

Except that she *does* look polished. Very much so. Your obsession with her hair as compared to… yours… is bizarre.

Her hair is sticking out in back. That is not a polished look.

Melania isn’t perfect, but she rarely looks anything other than gorgeous. It’s impressive.

That's all it takes to be impressive? Okay.

The hat she chose is strategically impressive: to block his loving husband from kissing her

Not only that. It was a strategy to hide her face from cameras.

Trump has really aged and the lighting in his photo is spooky.
