Usha Vance - Fashion Thread

Her fashion choices seem to be of a woman who does not normally care about fashion or pay attention to it. She is still figuring out what looks good on her. Her fashion choices don't seem particularly interesting or well fitted or appropriate for the occasion. I feel that pink coat was the wrong color, the belt looked weird. The white coat seemed almost bridal. The coats she chooses overwhelm her frame.

Her dresses often are ill fitting, the strapless ones do not do her figure favors when they are too tight in the chest for that multicolored one or the weird buttons on the dark strapless dress.

Is she that toned? She is thin, for sure, not calling her fat, but I don't see toned. Just slim. She looks like she exercises but not significantly.

If she had worn more makeup, the usual critics would make fun of that. She had on just the right amount of makeup to really pop without overdoing it.

I actually think he is significantly better looking than her, and that's saying something because he's not that cute either.

This is an utterly insane take. You either have very poor vision or horrendous taste but I'm betting it's both.

I think they are both average. She improves her appearance with makeup. Her clothes are not well fitted. Ultimately she is still average.

I hate all the MAGAs but I think she is pretty. She probably has not given a lot of thoughts to her cloths till now, just buying off the rack. It is harder for short people to dress. She just needs cloths fitted for her figure. Comparing her to M is ridiculous, since M is a gold digger selling her look (not that she looked that good lately).

I think the problem is she looks like she's playing dress-up and hasn't figured out how to just wear clothes. Like look at Kamala - she looks normal. That's because she wears clothes like this all the time - knows what she's comfortable in, what works for her. Usha is, I guess, new to being in the public eye and so she's like the intern at work whose skirts are either too short and tight or too frumpy or too something, because she does't know just how to buy and wear clothes appropriate for the setting. (I was that intern, long past being an intern.)

Like this coat is pretty, the color is pretty - it's a little too big, she looks uncomfortable, it's the wrong color for a grown woman who is also an accomplished lawyer, etc.

DP. It's a beautiful color for her. Accomplished grown women are allowed to wear pretty, flattering, feminine colors. Michelle Obama wore a pretty yellow to one of her husband's inaugurations. Hillary Clinton wore a bright pink coat to one of Bill's. Usha Vance looks chic, beautiful, and very much like an accomplished grown woman.

Melania wore powder blue at the last one too.

She looked great in that one. Is she getting angry and bitter?

She has a great body, an average face, and a despicable, hateful husband who she loves and supports. Gross.

I think her hair and makeup look great. I can't really tell about the dress -- I haven't seen a closeup photo that shows the chest area so can't tell if I like that or not. The color is pretty and the shape of it is nice -- it's a good silhouette for her.

I do think she's a lot more petite (not just short -- more small boned) than a lot of other women (especially like Melania, who is tall and broad-shouldered with that enormous chest) --- so I think the designers are having a little trouble finding stuff that doesn't overwhelm her. I like the pink coat but I think tit would look better on her if the bottom was not so flared -- she doesn't have the broad shoulders to balance out a more flared bottom. And the white coat needed narrower shoulders and a slimmer cut on the bottom. She would look better in a cut that is like the blue coat that Melania wore in 2016--a slimmer cut.

I think it's sad that on the White House bios page, there are head shots of Trump, Melania, and JD, but the photo of Usha is an AP photo taken from the Republican National Convention. That's how much of a rookie/unprepared she is for her role, she doesn't even have a headshot for the White House website.

This is so sexist.

This is...terrifying. Usha did get the short shrift- she wasn't airbrushed and blown out lighting wise like Melanie.

She's perfectly ok but she's going to have to get with the program if she wants to run with this (weirdo) crowd.

It's okay. It's not fashionable but it's inoffensive. A little figure skater-y but that's a standard evening wear look. Her hair looks weird and I think she should have worn it up.

On the subject of her hair, I appreciate that she doesn't dye it -- I have a similar amount of gray and don't dye it either. But it really wouldn't take that much effort to make her hair look smooth and shiny and healthy. Again, I have similar hair and it can easily look as hers does (and often does like that when I'm just dropping off kids at school or going to the beach or something) but it doesn't take that much effort to make it look very nice. And that's just me at home doing a hair mask and giving myself a blowout with some midrange products to keep it smooth. It's what I do if I'm meeting with clients, going to a party, or having my photo taken for something. I'm not getting highlights or having extensions put in or anything -- just putting a little extra time and effort into my hair so it looks nice in a situation where looking particularly professional or photogenic is helpful.

She can do what she wants but it's so weird to me that she wouldn't want to just look a bit more polished. We have the technology!

Except that she *does* look polished. Very much so. Your obsession with her hair as compared to… yours… is bizarre.

I’m sorry. I think she’s beautiful, the dress was tasteful, and I’m as conservative AF, but you can’t possibly call someone with that many flyaways “polished”.

I asked this during convention but no one responded- how much of her makeup/hair/clothing issues are a function of real life versus TV life. Meaning, if we saw her in real life, we’d think she looks like nice. But with the professional lighting, cameras, etc, the mistakes become more glaring. Or things like a normal amount of makeup end up looking like none.

I don’t see flyaways in the ball gown photo. Dp

I don’t either and thought her dress and hair looked pretty last night. But I think this person was replying to the overall idea that she is “always impeccably styled.”

I asked above and don’t see what makes her figure so great besides thin. I’m not sure whether or not she works out.
