How can we combat deep misogyny?

In what world is a grifter, rapist, insurrectionist, and convicted felon a better candidate?

Tells you how much people did not like Kamala. I don’t know a single woman that voted for her.

Your statement just tells us that you are in a bubble. Most women I know likely voted for Kamala, but I know several who voted for Trump. The statistics tell the story in a more comprehensive way. She was highly qualified, more qualified than Trump, and her moral stance vis a vis Trump put her waaaaay ahead in my book. Just because you didn't like her skin or gender or whatever, doesn't mean that everyone else thought the same.

NP.

Kamala’s loss had nothing to do with misogyny.

Stop scapegoating and try listening to voters.

Disagree. Misogyny behind the voters

Put your nose to the grind and earn your stripes up. Life isn't fair, and it is a dog eat dog world. No one owes you anything. You are not entitled to anything because you have a vagina despite what your permanent victimhood.classes taught you while you were in college going $180k in debt for a worthless degree.

This might shock you, but there are women who are good at their jobs and who are terrible at their jobs. Just like men. There are far more people who are mediocre to bad than good, which means most women, just like men, are mediocre to bad. Next time, pick good female candidates of you want to win elections, not thoroughly mid to bad selections like Hillary and Harris.

Except the GOP had a much sh.ttier candidate so that argument doesn’t work.

Yeah, so shitty he swept ALL the swing states, will win the popular vote, and the GOP is going to the control the Prez/House/Senate.

Stop running sh!tty female candidates and then blaming misogyny when it backfires.

Trump says what Americans want to hear and gives zero Fs about being controlled by the DC politically correct swamp. Dems elect thoroughly mid women who act like goodie two shoes but who are nothing more than sock poppets with the DNCs arm up their arses elbow deep to act as nothing more than a brainless puppet for the swamp.

The Dem losses went far beyond just Kamala’s. Misogyny doesn’t explain all of it. But it’s easier to just say that then ask the hard questions or take a look in the mirror.

As a white, male, never-Trumper I’ve been trying to get my head around how so many people could even consider voting for him. My son’s friends all voted Trump which is confusing because their values all align very closely with Democrats: equality, environmental sustainability, affordable housing, etc.

This Reddit thread helps me understand how this loss happens. Men feel they don’t have a voice in the democratic party. They have to apologize for their privilege before they can even speak - and even then, they’re likey to be labeled an “ist” and told to go work on themselves.

When you alienate such a large voting block it impacts election results.

The democratic party needs to refocus on its ideals (which are sound) rather than demographics and be truly inclusive.

I'm at the point where I don't care anymore. I don't care to understand. You all can work on it. I'm out.

Fear of being raped, fear walking through a parking garage, worrying about whether you locked your windows and doors, dealing with pregnancy, dealing with miscarriage - as the person HAVING the miscarriage, dealing with getting a D&C for miscarriage, child birth, breast feeding, being a working mom, getting sexually harassed by your boss, getting "laid off" for pregnancy and maternity absences (if you were even able to take any sort of absence). Never mind abortion in the traditional sense.

Men live in a world built by and for men. They are immune to many laws and norms made by men that impact women and our daughters.

Men the world over stalk, rape, murder, disfigure, kidnap, abuse, and use the law to punish women. They wish we would go home, stay barefoot and pregnant, and give them back the good jobs and spots in colleges.
And they make laws that kill pregnant women despite not understanding how ectopic pregnancies and sepsis work, apparently.

So no, I don't think someone who can never experience these things can understand them. At least, that's the only explanation I can come up with on why men continue to do the things they do - a lack of empathy. If it's not a lack of empathy, what is it?

+1. One time my husband and I were in a dangerous area. I said I was scared and asked if he was scared. He said, I never feel scared. It was eye opening. I realized what a different experience we each have had in our lives. It's ike when men find out how common it is for a woman to have had some, if not several, sexual transgressions against her throughout her life.

Trump is objectively sh.ttier.

A-holes voted for him for a variety of reasons, including misogyny.

You're right. We should be ashamed of ourselves trying to make things better for all Americans.

You don't care about all Americans. You care about yourself, so stop pretending.

I've only posted once before in this thread so I don't know where you're getting that I don't care about all Americans. Why would you assume that?

They just throw random crap out to see what sticks. Don't hesitate to call them out on their BS.

It all sticks, because everyone see right through you and you're very predictable.

Nope. PP called out the other poster for a completely baseless comment. Fiction.

Anonymous wrote:Where is the deep misogyny? Point me to the concrete examples. You can't, because there aren't any. In fact, women in this country are succeeding at rates never before seen in the world. At the primary, secondary, college, and graduate levels, there are more women than men, especially in demanding fields. Wage gap is a myth--it's due to differences in career choice and child-bearing choices. I know why you posted this--because you think Harris losing is an example. She lost because she was horrible. If you want to blame someone, blame the media and the Democratic Party--which is a joke. The places where women are attacked, on the athletic fields and in Gaza, are for "some reason" ignored.

Are you aware that on average three women a day are killed by their intimate partner in the United States?

Is that not a reflection of misogyny? Not only are these women dead, no one even cares to acknowledge or address it.

I don’t know how much of it is misogyny at this point but rather stupidity. Take the tariffs thing for example. Most economists agree that it doesn’t work the way Trump says but that is just labeled “word salad” and people can only comprehend slogans like “Trump will fix it”. Kamala could have done a better job explaining how the Biden administration combated inflation (which is down!!) but maybe she was forced to dumb everything down.

At work I do see average men succeed over exceptional women. It’s due to having a confidence that they can get away with bullshitting everyone. Most women don’t have that probably it’s a nurture situation where girls are told to work hard and boys are told they can do no wrong. Look at this current generation of boymom types complaining boys are disadvantaged in school. I don’t have a lot of hope for the future frankly.

America.

The majority of white women supported Trump.
