Kelly is my favorite. I do not like Roy Cooper. He's like a grandpa.

Cooper is 67! I'm 100% behind who she chooses. I heard she and Cooper are close from AG time. I think he would bring the most to the ticket: 14 EC votes, experience with fascists (NCGOP is the worst!), great campaigner, but he may not be able to leave his state because the crazy Lt. Gov. will try some shenanigans. But again, I am fine with who Harris trusts.

Unless he can bring NC, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada back from being in Trump’s favor (which they are currently heavily polling in his favor—by at least a few percentage points outside the MOE) Then it wouldn’t be the greatest pick.

Mark Kelly could do this!

It feels like they want to make this a much more chaotic process than it needs to be. Just follow party line and say she's a good candidate and MOVE ON.

Because the Dem governors are all polling higher than her. If this really is about saving us from Trump, why not go with a candidate who is polling higher? Everyone is acting like Kamala has already won. I think that's dangerous, especially as Biden screwed her over and she's tainted because of him. Remember how we watched with dread on election night 2016.

People are by-and-large unknowledgable about these governors, that's why the poll so high, and there's a bunch of energy for someone new. I think it'll be an even riskier mistake to start with a completely new candidate and different campaign, because 5 months out from the election, a governor whose relatively unknown is polling high.

But we've seen how Kamala performs on the national stage on her own and it was abysmal. If this election is really as important as people say it is, maybe some risk-taking is warranted.

We are less than 4 months from election day. I don't think we can put too much faith in polls. But I agree with you Realistically there wasn't another option beyond Harris it would have caused way too much division, too close to the election..

Not this close to the election.

The risk in ousting Harris is you risk losing a crucial voting block.
Basically, it's ride or die with her.

LOL. You think they poll higher because they are unknown?! Let’s leave the pretzel logic to the Trumpsters.

Her speeches today were great! She's grown as a person, PP. And Trump is a wreck by comparison.

Democrats don't run women, not because the other Democrats won't vote for women and they're very unpopular (HRC is the frumpiest most annoying white woman you can bring up and she got the popular vote), but because those people don't think women are worthy to be president. That's it.

HRC and Kamala aren’t the best candidates . They laugh foolishly when discussing serious issues like war and mayhem. America likes women that aren’t weird cacklers and say stupid things like “Why am I not 50 points ahead ????”

I've never thought the Democratic party has run very intelligent people. Obama was a smooth talker, but we can see how they turned out. Bill Clinton is an idiot. Biden is an idiot and for a while was just making the same bland "unity" statements while appeasing really no one at all-he reminds me of Jeb Bush. I don't think you need to be the best candidate at all to win the race. I do think people should be more honest and just say the thing: "I don't think women should be president"

??

Bill Clinton is widely considered one of the most intelligent US presidents in history. Clearly he made some not-so-bright decisions in his personal life, but the man was no dummy.

By Who? There have been many more impressive presidents who've achieved more than Bill-whose most impressive background fact is getting a Rhodes Scholarship?

Researchers at UC Davis conducted a study analyzing presidential IQ. Results summarized at the link below. Spoiler—Clinton came in at #4 behind only Jefferson, Adams, and JFK.

But it’s also pretty common knowledge that Clinton has a photographic memory (or very close to it).

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/retropolis/wp/2018/01/07/trump-says-hes-a-genius-a-study-found-these-other-presidents-actually-were/?hpid=hp_hp-more-top-stories-2_retropolis-1130pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.53dd9e597c73

I've read so many crazy stories of Clinton remembering people he met once fleetingly, famous and not. It's a really useful and impressive quality.

That entire family is disconcertingly smart. I would not want to be in Chelsea Clinton's position.

What voting block? Both she and Booker performed horribly with black voters in 2020. She is not well liked or seen as authentic. Do not be fooled by these college-educated black surrogates with big platforms, they are not reflective of the black vote at large and there is a growing disconnect between these elites and regular black voters.

It's not about today! We know she can have good moments and has had them in the past. But a "moments" candidate ain't gonna take out Trump.

I'm surprised I'm being lectured for telling the truth that most Americans know little about JB Pritzker, Andy Beshear, Josh Shapiro, and Gretchen Whitmer. These people really came out of nowhere and get stunning endorsement by their relatively few fans, so people get hyped. It's not that crazy.

It;s 2024, I They would have pissed off a lot of black voters if they skipped over her and went immediately to someone else.

No they wouldn't have. Black voters don't rock with Kamala like that. Don't be fooled by the talking heads on CNN like Van Jones etc; they are not representative.

Agreed. America loves fresh, new faces. It’s easy to get excited about someone when you don’t know them well enough yet to see the inevitable flaws. It’s a lot like the first three months of dating someone new.
