GA normally announces new members around March.
Is there a scenario where SYC, Loudoun, and maybe VA Revolution (via FCV/CC) get GA.
No.
Don't see that happening. Last year they added one club to the Mid Atlantic following ASA being removed. It would also throw off the conference a bit considering there's 12 teams and two divisions within it (North and South).
Yeah. Loudon wouldn't even be good enough to get accepted.
So what about the rumor that SYC applied and could be getting it? Does that mean that FCV is being dropped? Could the league look to be expanding to keep up with the strength of ecnl?
SYC is in springfield. TSJ is in springfield. SYC has fields and coaches. FCV is losing fields and coaches. Rumors that SYC is getting GA. FCV is leaving GA. Seems like TSJ and SYC are coming together to have GA based in springfield.
Exactly. And the historical (pre-TSJ) Loudoun-based FCV is going to merge with VRSC because they have fields (which FCV apparently lacks going forward) and are trying to build (but otherwise are years away from having) a credible program in GA / ECNL (which FCV has in GA).
I never understood why TSJ, which is based in Springfield and has both boys and girls teams in various sports, bought FCV, which is based in Loudoun and at the time was girls only. Partnering with someone like SYC makes so much more sense for TSJ and SYC’s dissatisfaction with the McLean / Union partnership gives them the opportunity to pivot, with fortuitous timing given FCV’s coaching and field challenges.
