2030 Girls Lacrosse

YJMA DMV 2030 is based in Bethesda. Several of our daughters attend Stone Ridge, and we practice there and up the street at Georgetown Prep.

Thought this team was based in NOVA. How big is the current team?

Do not waste your time and money sending your daughter to the summer tryouts unless you know you already have a spot on the team or are satisfied with the money grab B team for these clubs.

Honestly, you should be emailing the coach/director, telling them yo are interested in tryouts and providing game film.

This is laughable for 2030s. Grow up

Why is this laughable? It's a great idea if you have good film that shows field IQ/awareness and how a player can perform under the pressure of competition. If it is just sped up film that shows your daughter barreling down the field and not passing to open teammates, then don't share that.

It may seem a bit over the top ("laughable" wasn't necessary) for rising 7th Graders, but I don't believe it is for the top clubs, like M&D and Hero's. From experience with an older daughter, an engagement with the coach and film could help with visibility and awareness for an upcoming tryout. If you played against those clubs, they will have film and will actually go back and review. Not kidding.

My question is, when recruiting time rolls around, is there a dedicated coordinator for YJMA only? After all, CR isn't going to prioritize MA over the LIYJ teams (most have 4 at a grad year).

If CR isn't actively involved, then what is the benefit other than YJ orginzation getting them into some tournaments they would never get into? (lax for cure, G8) etc

This is not CR's team. This is TW's team and she is totally vested in it. She has provided D1 level coaching to turn them around from their previous disaster of a team. YJ is all about development AND recruiting. It is not about club rankings and the NGLL or most of what you see discussed on this website.

Do rankings matter in 6th grade? No. But does it matter in 10th? yes. You want to be ranked high so you get into those top brackets where you go against the top clubs.

It's safe to say that like me, most the public probably don't know much about this team. Could be a good idea to host an open practice.

it really does not. If your daughter is looking to get recruited to play in college, a good HS and a good club with a serious recruiting program are important. It doesn't matter if you are playing in the highest bracket... considering the number of D1 and D3 colleges with WLAX programs. And unfortunately, it's still about who your club's recruiting director knows.

Are any teams offering open practices? I've not heard of this going on in the DMV. I did hear that YJMA DMV is looking to expand with a developmental rec team and other age group travel teams.

This is hilarious if you know what this is referencing. LMAO

YJMA as a whole is based out of NoVa. The 2030 team was started by parents were looking to control a team and found YJMA to “host” them. Club leadership, nor the coaches, are not the ones with the contacts for fields at SR and GP, do your homework. Coaches r nice enough - W&M alums so know lacrosse. Recruiting director is a nice person, but did not play D1. Maybe by the time these girls get to HS YJMA will really be stronger, but they r not getting the same bang as YJ Spallina. 😂

Yes, we are thankful to the parents who locked in fields at SR and GP. I actually sent flowers to the mom responsible for working with TW and AH to start our YJMA DMV 2030 team to say THANK YOU. Don’t anticipate having any issues with our talented girls attracting the interest of recruiters 6-7 years from now.

This is not happening. M&D owner stated as recently as last year he’s not interested in the DC market.

Certainly possible he changed his mind but it would be surprising.

Plus he’d probably rather have one of his other brands here anyway like 3d or NXT

They are regularly getting additional coaching every month from local college coaches. One of whom was spallinas assistant at stony brook. So…pretty close to spallina.

Makes much more sense to have a known product here (Balto’s best) vs an out of town name many people don’t know. Regardless, with MC Elite’s collapse, a well run hs program in moco is a no brainer
