Family of Braylon Meade says justice was not served in deadly drunk driving incident

Justice was served. Some people want to act like they can take justice into their own hands. They can’t, but they can still bluster.

Yeah, I don't think it's house arrest now.

Good. It shouldn't be.

Please elaborate on how justice was served. And then we can have 24 more pages of rehashing how most of us think a slap on the wrist for killing someone while driving drunk and high and going over 90 isn’t justice.

Who precisely is trying to take justice into their own hands? I haven’t seen a single person threaten the defendant in any way. No one is attempting extrajudicial action.

The only thing people have done is discuss the horrible nature of the crime and discuss public policy/criticize the official duties of public officials. This is bound to happen with any highly charged crime, especially when a minor is killed. I’ve seen some people suggest a lawsuit against the parents, which seems warranted especially if rumors are true he had a history of prior DUI + rehab. It seems pretty irresponsible for them to have allowed their son access to their car. Again, this is something that will play out in a court system.

I get you’re mad that many (most) posters disagree with you, but you’re completely full of BS trying to spin it as even remotely anyone taking justice in their own hands or “blustering” to that effect.

Apparently disagreeing with a court sentencing on a public forum is “acting” like you’re going to “take justice in your own hands.” The PP is so out of touch that they have to make up lies about other posters to try to bolster their viewpoint.

And even if “justice” was served in a legal sense, the local community (a large part of which knows of the defendant) is fully entitled to their personal views on the killer and his family. Sorry, but the defendant’s reputation is in the toilet.

Kind of pretentious to suggest you speak on behalf of the entire “community.” Do you ever get tired of the sound of your own voice?

Quite a few supporters for Parisa refusing to allow themselves to be intimidated by the ugly mob:

Fortunately some people still believe in the rule of law.

I do too. So, the next time a "teen" drunk driver hits someone, I hope it's not me but you.

I said the community is entitled to their own personal views. Meaning each person can have their own opinion, which is the exact opposite of me speaking on behalf of all members. Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit is it?

And his reputation is in the toilet. That doesn’t mean everyone holds the same views, but just read through the comments on the news articles, ArlNow, etc. Enough people know who he is and what he has done that he can’t escape it even if he has a little contingent of supporters. A good reputation is hard to rebuild after DUI manslaughter.

Now we’ve gone beyond hints of violence by the vigilantes.

Why do you need to make up lies to support your narrative? People discussing a criminal verdict is hardly a “mob.” In fact, people discuss elections all the time. It’s pretty routine, whereas an “ugly mob” would be people vandalizing her home or protesting in a violent manner. If you think posting on DCUM is a “mob” then lol, I don’t even know what to tell you.

“Rule of law” … well the rule of law on charging juveniles lacks a bright line rule. You can respect the law and still disagree with how it’s been applied. I’m sure it makes you feel like a super smarty pants to throw around phrases like that though! You read a law journal article once and now you think you’re intelligent.

DP. There were earlier posts hinting at violence.

This thread was mostly irrational raging. Which is understandable, but let’s not pretend it was a “discussion”.

Well better it happens to someone who respects the “rule of law” so we can avoid any “angry mobs” for his next DUI. You would be super understanding and sympathetic to the driver after all, whereas the “vigilantes” on here wouldn’t be. I’m sure you’d handle the outcome much better than the rest of us.

So is anyone protesting the judge for his sentence?

I’ve been following this thread including posts that were deleted and never saw hints of violence. I’ve seen people advocating for civil suits, but where did anyone threaten any sort of physical violence?
