Agreed. I’m from out of state but lived in this DC area for years before having children and learning about these schools. Never heard of any of them until I started looking at schools for my own children and pretty sure I wouldn’t have known about them if I lived somewhere else and needed to look for schools in that elsewhere. Some people can’t stand that others just don’t care enough other people’s high schools. Never had a “where did you go for high school” conversation in my professional life. |
+1 they are only worth knowing if you have kids in the local area or grew up in it. In the broader picture, they are not worth knowing. |
True Al Gore and his son attended STA and his daughter attended NCS Gore son left STA he got suspended or expelled or some thing |
| All three of the Gore daughters attended NCS. I’m not sure if little Al was formally expelled or whether the school and his parents mutually agreed he would move on, to minimize the drama, but yes, he violated the school’s drug policy. |
Most “normal people” have no interest sending their kids to a single sex school? You are showing your ignorance or maybe you run in a lower socioeconomic group. Single sex education has always been popular with NORMAL wealthy people. And its popularity is catching on with charter schools. Here’s an article by Public School Review, Why Single-Sex Public Schools are Growing in Popularity, so you can do better. https://www.publicschoolreview.com/blog/why-single-sex-public-schools-are-growing-in-popularity |
| all of those kids had hooks |
What does that mean? |
How do you know?!? |
PP is referring to the Harvard and Penn kids being black and UVA being Latino. Gross. |
I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. Trinity, Brearley, Collegiate, Spence, Chapin, Dalton, NCS, STA, Sidwell, etc. are all "elite" institutions. Those "in the know" will know. However, if you ask the average person off the street, they might know Sidwell but they probably wouldn't know what Spence means. I'm not saying they're not "elite" institutions. |
Gross and racist! **Some** people will always make excuses for others’ success to make themselves feel better. Racist, mediocre, and bitter is a terrible combination. |
