| Some of these schools have so many recruited athletes - like Holton Arms! |
Are there no recruited coming from public schools? What's your point? |
NP. Race is a hook in college admissions as is being a recruited athlete. Head over to the college discussion for a reality check about post pandemic college “holistic” college admissions. |
Why are you bringing public schools into the discussion? Does HA have lots of recruited athletes? |
Yes! Holton has VERY SMART recruited athletes. |
Because every year around this time on DCUM, there are naysayers who shrug off private school admissions to top colleges as undeserved or meaningless by playing the "recruited athlete" card. While completely ignoring the fact that there are more recruited athletes coming from public schools. |
This is false. It is common DCUM knowledge that all athletes, legacies and rich donor admits only attend private schools. All public school admits are just regular middle class white and Asian kids who worked really hard. |
Not saying the students aren't qualified but I would be very surprised if 20% of Jackson-Reed graduates were recruited athletes. Sports are still definitely one of the ways privilege plays a role in college admissions. |
Even if there are more recruited athletes from public schools (though probably not percentage-wise), that doesn’t negate the fact that many private school admissions are for recruited athletes. Both demonstrate how large the influence of being good at a game has in admissions. The attempt at deflection is noted. |
Only Holton has smart recruited athletes, all other recruited athletes are dumb as rocks. Only HA should be admitted as recruited athletes, and they must be celebrated. Jill should invite them to the White House. |
Nowhere did PP say that. Carry on with the boulder on your shoulder. |
