The people responsible are Pence, Biden, and Trump. If classified documents are found in your home, it’s on you, not on the agency/department that the information originally came from. They had a responsibility to safeguard it.

As I said before..... One can almost understand how classified items might be removed by a president or VP - they get classified briefings in their offices.

But, not a Senator. A Senator can only view classified material in a SCIF. You cannot take documents out.

How did Biden get items from his Senate days out of a SCIF?????

Depends on what classification level. Not all types of classified documents are required to be kept in a SCIF.

I would also note that all of this breathless commentary completely lacks any nuance or level of sophisication to make any kind of determinations whatsoever.

As we learned from "But Her Emails" there have been cases where documents without markings or classification of any kind whatsoever were retroactively made classified, without bothering to notify anyone already in possession of those documents.

There have also been cases of things being called out as "classified" because they had markings, yet had already been declassified long ago.

Examples of Hillary Clinton emails that were claimed to be "classified," after the fact:

An email congratulating a foreign head of state on being elected.

An email expressing condolences for a death.

Those types of emails were standard fare for the State Department. The FBI witch hunt vs Clinton was ludicrous.

That is an honor system then and it isn’t working. Why no one knew docs were missing or that these people had them is unacceptable.

This is a ridiculous comment. There are handling requirements for classified documents. There are not additional, special restrictions for Senators. OMG. Just stop.

And I say this as a republican. It seems likely, given the various locations of the documents, that he mishandled documents at some point (vs it being all the fault of his staff). But not bc there are special rules for Senators that dont exist for literally any other cleared person.

It's really quite funny watching the mental contortions trying to come up with some reason why Biden and only Biden could ever be in the wrong but not Trump or Pence.

Didn't Hillary have her e-mail server in some nasty bathroom in Colorado? That's some sketchy stuff.

State Dept. is notorious for being slackers when it comes to security, so not really that surprised. I guess politicians are as well.

You know...

People are concerned about Biden because he is our CURRENT president. We have no idea who had access to the documents he had in at least 3 different locations. And, as our current president, he sets current policy. So until we know WHO had access to these docs and WHAT the content of the docs is, we don't know if HE might be compromised. (and by "we" I don't mean, necessarily the general public)

Senators - Democratic and Republican - are none too happy with the DNI briefing yesterday.

Biden just basically said all senators take classified documents. Bad move.

Have they searched the Rehoboth house yet?

Because you’re a medium? You have no idea. That’s what an investigation is for.

They should be equally concerned about Trump and Pence. And asking themselves if we should actually trust Marjorie Taylor Greene with classified documents while she sits on the Homeland Security Committee.
