| Hilary, Trump, now Biden. Who is the librarian responsible for making sure documents particularly paper ones are returned. If Joe-schmoe government employee had docs at home, they’d be in deep trouble. What the heck?? |
| Is there a link? |
| My guess is that these were copies rather than originals, so NARA wasn't aware anything was missing...but we shall see. |
| Obama had a bunch of documents at his library too, and didn't return them. |
|
1) these files were under lock and key
2) they were marked and reported as soon as they were dsicovered 3) The administeros of the archive opened up the resources to ensure nothing else was amiss 4) there is no allegation that these documents were STOLEN IOW, the Biden archives handled this properly. Now, if you want to compare to Trump, be my guest. |
| Yes, better protocols are needed....so cutting funding as the GOP proposes is not the right answer. |
|
OP here -- the handling procedures need to be reviewed with politicians on a regular basis going forward. People are losing confidence that documents are handled properly, and these things inflame one side or the other. The politicians seem so casual in handling these docs.
|
Also, Biden’s people turned the documents over to NARA as soon as they found them while packing up the office. No one needed to get a subpoena or execute a search warrant. |
Please show where the Biden archive was causal in handling these documents before you go bOtH-sIdInG this. |
And, when the documents were discovered, there weren't lies upon lies about it, they didn't obstruct, they didn't move them to other unsecured locations, it wasn't a long drawn out legal battle like the Mar A Lago saga. |
Under lock and key - as opposed to sitting in a random unlocked hallway room that anyone could have had access to, including the numerous known Russian and Chinese spies that have been spotted with free rein at Mar A Lago. |
Again, then point is that non-politicians would be in hotwater even with lesser classified documents -- stolen or not. There needs to be better protocols for making sure that classified materials and copies are retrieved and properly stored by the appropriate agency eg, National Archives. This is not a blue/red issue. They all seemingly leave something behind and it gets taken away. There is clearly an issue that needs to be addressed. |
Doesn't matter if these documents were under lock and key if they were not at the proper storage facility. That is casual. Accidents happen. Get the darn documents from every politician who no longer has a right to keeping them. It's great that people were aware enough to say they found classified materials that need to be put away. They should've been put away years ago. Since they were not on several occasions in the recent past, the process needs to be improved. I guess you don't care some future politician walks away -- purposely or not -- with SCI documents. I'm not calling for criminal charges -- I'm calling for standard process improvement. |
