His a$$. McCarthy clearly doesn't have the votes. He was out there this morning with a harebrained idea that 11 of the 20 would vote for him and the other 9 would abstain from voting. He has no strategy and is just grasping at straws. His only path forward is a deal with Jeffries, or to drop out.

Jeffries would be an idiot to accept any deal. McCarthy can offer him anything he wants, but unless republicans agree to vote for a compromise rules package, it will just be democrats and McCarthy supporting it.

There is no imminent danger to our republic. The nation was far more destabilized after the 2020 election.

It’s not w competition between the two. The point is that an event like 9/11 happening now would be v. bad. If I know this, surely Putin does as well.

Putin doesn’t have the resources to pull off anything close to 9/11.

He bombed some apartment buildings, then blamed the bombings on Chechen terrorists to get elected. Reporters who inquired found themselves dead.

Putin will not do anything. It’s not like the US Government is not functioning. The military and security agencies are under the control of the president. If Putin attacked the US would respond against Russia and 3/4 of the republicans would rally round Putin.

+1. And it’s not like Putin is going to make a direct move against the US anyway. If he did, all of his Republican boosters would be forced to come out against him.

Cnn is reporting that McCarthy will immediately hold a vote to adjourn today to avoid losing on a 4th ballot and to give himself time to negotiate. The democrats will vote against the motion, if the republicans opposed to him follow suit, then he will look even weaker. This is getting hilarious
