I'm surprised there's nothing here about this yet. Tomorrow's Speaker vote could be lit. Anyone want to start a pool on the number of ballots it will take to elect a Speaker? Over/under starting at 1.5

Okay. McCarthy will either win on first vote or there will be ten or more votes. Tom Cole is compromise candidate and is new speaker.

JHFC. Former presidents don’t have immunity. It’s an open question whether even a sitting president has immunity.

Anyone can be elected Speaker, it does not have to be an elected member of Congress. But agree with you on the rest of it.
