Organizations should be held accountable for their actions - such as covering up abuses.

Atheism isn’t an organization. Atheists aren’t connected to each other. We don’t look to other for guidance. And we certainly don’t have “thought leaders”.

You can’t see that because you are stuck in your religious frame of reference. You can’t imagine life without that framework. And it appears you have no intellectual curiosity to even attempt to see it any differently. Sad.

You clearly don’t know what a thought leader is. Google it and come back to us.

Also, do you really think people buy his books because they want to reject all his ideas?

Again, totally different mindset. No thought leaders.

So far we only know a few religious people on here who’ve bought his books… Maybe they are athecurious?

Not me. Unlike you guys, many of us religious people aren’t afraid of exploring differing ideas, with the goal of deepening our understanding of our religions. I read some of Dawkins’ writings and was unimpressed with the bombast and pomposity. Sort of like DCUM’s atheists, come to think of it.

OP, you keep poking the bees nest with every inane post.

Sure you want to do that?

How does reading about atheism deepen your understanding of any religion?

Maybe reading logical stuff makes religious people nervous that maybe this life is all there is, so they dig in to the idea of an afterlife.

Is the reason somebody is bumping ancient Christian-bashing threads to bury this thread about atheism’s sexual abuse problems?

I think maybe a religious poster who is trying to hide the fact that OP posted a thread that equates organized religion to NAMBLA.

Any thoughtful person knows that staying in your own bubble, without ever challenging your beliefs, isn’t much. You should try it.

Touchy about the truth of that, eh? I mean OP isn’t wrong.

I’m OP and I linked to several atheists besides NAMBLA. You’re a liar.

Please keep bumping. Every inane post of yours reinforces the stereotype of ignorant, irrational believers.

We can kick it off with this: David Thorstad, a prominent atheist, founded the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) to advocate for pedophilia and pederasty.

Is this some kind of cover for the Catholic church?

Sure seems like it.

Oh, good point. Let me correct. OP posted a thread that equates specific atheist sexual abusers and organizations that protect sexual abusers like NAMBLA to abusive priests and organized religion that protects sexual abusers. I agree both are reprehensible and I’m glad to see a religious poster equating religious organizations that protect sexual abusers to other reprehensible organizations that protect abusers.

Thanks for pointing out the correction, OP!

People trying to excuse sexual abuse by their own religious institutions with some sick “but everyone does it” argument are truly disgusting.
