Atheism’s sexual misconduct problem

If anyone or any organization covers it up instead of addressing it and protecting the kids first and foremost, you have more shitheads involved. Also no-brainer.

If anyone or any organization not just covers it up but facillitates more abuse by putting that person back in charge of kids they can abuse, you've got a third level of shithead. Again, no-brainer.

Holds true for everyone, across the board. I have yet to see an atheist disagree with that. I think I haven't seen any religious people disagree with that in this thread, but there does seem to be a lot of refocusing when the question is asked -- nonetheless, as far as I know, no direct defense of any of the shitheads.

So that's 29 pages of driving around in circles like a clown car. They're all shitheads, all the abusers, lock them up. Done.

Every single (excellent) point you’ve made has been made multiple times.

OP is just a troll pushing this faux issue because she gets off on it. Gross.

Sounds like you’re a person of faith who would rather this thread just go away, by agreeing that “every molester is bad”, but has a hard time coming to the truth that organized religion led molestation is the greater, and clearly documented, threat against its adherents.

Religious people do exactly that. Including immoral and irrational things. Just because a book says so.

Many atheists circle around their leaders who are accused of rape and sexism and even give them financial support for their legal bills. See the previous page.

Also, it’s ridiculous to claim that the holy books of Judaism or Christianity support pedophilia. You clearly know nothing about religion or religious “books.”

Can you please show some examples of that?

I can point to Ted Haggard, Wes Goodman, in fact here’s a list of priests by state:

https://www.abuselawsuit.com/church-sex-abuse/accused-clergy/

Got anything besides Dawkins and maybe people buying his book? I mean it doesn’t mean they’re all atheists who buy his book, but please show us your list of atheists with big support groups that forgive them for molesting like so many mega churchs do for their priests when they molest?

You clearly didn’t read the posts and links on the first page of this thread, and on the page right before this one. Plenty examples of atheists denying and circling the wagons. This is part of the problem of atheist denial. Come back when you’ve actually read something that might be uncomfortable for you.

OP here. It’s sad you think that pointing out atheist abuse is just “trolling.”

It’s sad that some of you still don’t understand (or don’t want to understand) the concept of per capita numbers. Or that you continue to argue that a guy (Dawkins) who sold 3.3 million books containing paras promoting pederasty “has no influence.” Or that you tolerate the kindergarten trolls on your side. Or that the atheists who contributed to a legal defense fund for an accused atheist rapist because…mumble mumble…we have no organization… or something.

This thread exemplifies the larger problem of denial and deflection among atheists when their own are accused of sexual misconduct.

I started this thread because the anti-Catholic bigotry is so pervasive that the forum is basically useless. Not trolling. And I’m not even Catholic. I just want to be able to use this forum.

My only point here is that people suck across the board. This isn’t an exclusively Catholic thing. Or a school thing or an atheist thing. Some of you already get it. Others among you atheists are defensive and in denial—you’re probably the ones who will continue trying to turn this forum into a cesspool of exclusively anti-Catholic bigotry.

You did not read the post you are replying to. Your response is non-sequitur. If you would like to read the post you replied to and respond in context, that would be welcomed. Your threadsh*tting is not something I wish to engage in or encourage.

The threadsh!ter is the ignoramus/liar who claims any holy text supports pedophilia. Save your faux threadsh!tying outrage for situations where you’re not so transparently trolling.

But hey, from your POV, anything that moves off the problem of atheist abuse is good, right?

It’s truly pathetic that when somebody posts some uncomfortable truths, they get attacked for trolling and sh!tposting. And trolled by children.

And adult would acknowledge their own hypocrisy. Some here did that. Others of you are in deep denial and deflection.

LOL. “Uncomfortable truths”. OP has been shoveling horse sh1t for 20+ pages. There is no “truth” to deny here - no matter how much OP gets off on trying to push it.

This thread wasn’t made in good faith. OP is a troll.

There is no “atheist abuse”. And atheists have repeatedly condoned these individuals.

You’re just a troll.

Well at least you admit that you have ulterior motives for this thread. That is called trolling.

“Condoned” doesn’t mean what you think it does.

I’m impressed with the dedication to this ruse. You’re eloquent. Almost too eloquent to be believed as someone who isn’t being satirical. I mean if you believe the things you’re writing that’s actually enough to make my day. I mean your assertions are comically illogical, but hey, whether they’re true or not, the audience is entertained.

Anyway, can we start a thread about how everything organized religion touches it turns to sht? You guys see that Missouri reinstated corporal punishment in high school? I read that and then looked at the other states that allow it. It’s all backwoods, Uber religious places like Mississippi and the south. Super religious states. Also, you know what the number one selling child rearing booking is for Christians? “To train up a child”. This book, by and evangelical author, advocates biblically sanctioned child abuse as a form of discipline.

So no only are your churches filled with molesters, it’s also filled with child abusers. Get your fking heads on straight. No wonder people are abandoning your pews. It’s abusive.

Oof. Changed my wording and then didn't proofread.

Denounced.

Organized religion does a lot of good, too. Feeding the poor, consoling the sick and the elderly, sheltering immigrants, and more. You’re just proving yet again how bigots like you have blinkers on.

But you just keep attacking the messengers about atheist abuse. There’s more than one of us—I didn’t post the long article on rape at that atheist convention and the atheists who contributed to the atheist rapist’s legal fund. about atheist abuse.

It says a lot about you that you keep spewing hate while you deny sexual abuse among atheists.

There is no systemic atheist abuse because we don’t have any organization. Do some individual atheists do terrible stuff. Sure! But it’s not the same as the problem of physical and mental abuse in Scientology, the coverup of sexual abuse in Catholicism, or even the animal abuse of the Amish. Because we don’t have a culture, structure or sacred texts that conscript or validate bad behavior. Atheism isn’t a religion!

I’d say the good it does may be a wash or at best a delicate balance. You go in to places like Africa, give food, but also preach guilt, superstition and no condoms and diseases like AIDS are spread more easily. You have evangelicalism that has infected Africa to the point where who knows how many poor gay people have been killed because of your message being taken too literally. Also, mother Theresa was no saint. She was actually quite cruel and a proponent of suffering. Look it up bro.

Also look at the history of slavery and religion being used to justify the slave masters basically keeping people in mental chains because it was “written in the Bible”. Not to mention all the effects in the Phillipines. The whole thing is a massive guilt ridden scheme that dissuades healthy teachings of sexuality. So yes, for the soup kitchens, there are also many downsides. Then there are the priests molesting because they are repressed. I would still rather associate people who operate on a less rigid belief in God and who operate on the Golden Rule vs organized religion.

A pp posted about atheist abuse at an atheist convention. Prominent atheists sided with the abuser and even raised money for his legal defense. Atheists with big loudspeakers like Dawkins, Harris and Hitchens, spout sexism and even support for pedophilia to millions of listeners. Two atheist organizations knowingly employed a rapist.

What does that sound like to you?

You guys keep splitting hairs over whether this is technically an “organization.” That’s disengenuous at best. It’s still hierarchy of white men spewing sexism and covering up for each other. Would you prefer “good old boys club”?
