Today's stats show 14,286 covid deaths in Md.
Vaccines were reported to be readily available to all Mders 16+ starting April 12, 2021. The total deaths on 4/12/21 was 8,284. Since that day, there have been 6,002 covid deaths. Of those, 1434 were vaccinated. That leaves 4,578 covid deaths in unvaccinated people *after* vaccines were readily available. So 3 times the deaths in unvaccinated vs vaccinated. |
We know most of them were unvaccinated - that is published data. |
How old were they? |
The problem with that data gathering is that people are only considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second shot. Meaning, people that die from negative side effects from the shot or from the increased Covid vulnerability window post vaccine are all considered unvaccinated Covid deaths. Something to consider. |
I do wonder how well the vaccines will hold up with a new surge since most people were boosted last fall, especially older people. If they aren’t as effective during another surge that could spell trouble. Maybe why Moderna and Pfizer are seeking approval for a second booster. |
They’re not effective against mild illness for more than a few months. The protection against severe disease lasts longer. |

How many times have stats been ‘quietly adjusted’ |
The bolded statement is not true. Vaccines were not widely available to all after April 12. That's when the window for making appointments opened for younger healthy people. The pharmacies would not allow the younger population to schedule unless you lied. In any event, people were not fully vaccinated on that date even if they could have gotten appointments. It probably doesn't matter for the argument you are making, but it was a while before younger people without health conditions could get vaccinated. |
Oh, I know that. The first pp was making the point that the number of vaccinated deaths was low. I was trying to point out that unvaccinated deaths in that same time frame is also low. |
Please tell us exactly how many of those 4578 deaths you suspect are actually post-vaccination deaths and where you come up with your guess. Because even if you said a quarter of them are deaths from the shot (extremely unlikely) you still have more unvaccinated people dying than vaccinated. And especially as you consider the percentage of people vaccinated vs. unvaccinated in Maryland (nearly 75% fully vaccinated) -- that means a much higher percentage of unvaccinated deaths. |
If you think most covid deaths happened to young, thin, healthy people…I don’t know what to tell you. You’re about as out of touch with reality as the people who think Hilary ran a kiddie porn ring in a pizza shop. |
People dying from negative side effects of the shot? This conversation is for people with brains. Clearly not you. |
The AMA disagrees with you. https://www.ama-assn.org/delivering-care/public-health/what-doctors-wish-patients-knew-about-long-covid |
I have never heard anything to the effect that people who die as a result of the vaccine (e.g. myocarditis) are considered unvaccinated covid deaths. They do not die from a covid infection at all, they die due to a rare response to the vaccine. Nor have I seen anything that say you are at heightened risk from covid infection in the 2 weeks after you receive the vaccine. I'm pretty sure this phenomenon, if real, would have emerged with data and we would have heard plenty about it. |
