So basically it comes to this - republicans believe Dr. Ford but still think it is ok to confirm him because his crime wasn’t heinous enough to preclude a seat on the Supreme Court.

Yes it seems that way.

I don’t have a link but heard on the radio today of a poll in which 54% of Republicans think he should get confirmed even if the allegations are true.

No, you didn’t.

People REALLY need to stop putting words in my mouth. YES, I DID. Here’s the poll, you cretin.

America Magazine, the Jesuit Review has withdrawn its endorsement of Kavanaugh

https://www.americamagazine.org/politics-society/2018/09/27/editors-it-time-kavanaugh-nomination-be-withdrawn

While nomination hearings are far from the best venue to deal with such issues, the question is sufficiently important that it is prudent to recognize it as determinative at this point. Dr. Blasey's accusations have neither been fully investigated nor been proven to a legal standard, but neither have they been conclusively disproved or shown to be less than credible. Judge Kavanaugh continues to enjoy a legal presumption of innocence, but the standard for a nominee to the Supreme Court is far higher; there is no presumption of confirmability. The best of the bad resolutions available in this dilemma is for Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to be withdrawn.

This, a thousand times this.

I feel like Trump has made immaturity great again.

There were so many parts like this. So many. So unbecoming if any adult, let alone a SC Justice.

That was all that was on his mind, beer. He needed one so badly. It appeared he was going through alcohol withdrawal. You know he wanted to have a drink (ski) with her.

Cory Booker was amazing.

The Dems now think drinking beer equals a raging alcohol, just like my fundie FIL. Neat.

So I guess the conclusion for the young men here is that if you’d like to attempt to rape someone you should probably get blackout drunk first so in the future you won’t be able to remember it and will be able to deny it persuasively.

how she left, and she wasn’t even sure what year, let alone what month or day it occurred. And everyone she identified as being there denies any knowledge of it or outright refutes it.

With only an allegation unsupported by any proof, how can so many of you feel ok about ruining a man’s life and career. It’s simply unbelievable.

+1 I don't get it either.

Perhaps you guys didn’t watch his testimony.

PP here. I did watch it. I also know that many people were "sure" he was guilty before today.

He was an embarrassment. And blaming the Clintons! Such a loser.

Somebody should have read the questions he wrote for Ken Starr back to him.

It's right there in his calendar. July 1st: "Go to Timmy's for 'skis' (he said 'skis' was brewskis- meaning beers) w/Judge, Tom, PJ, Bernie and Squi (Squi, he said was a friend) That was the night it would have happened! All the names are right there on his calendar. I think we need to figure out where "Timmy" lived during the summer of 1982.

He’ll be on the court by mid October and on the basketball court by election day. What happens to her.

or it could've been July 7 where he wrote "Columbia" - ie: the club where Christine Blasey swam - Mark Judge's book said he & his friends drank several times a week that summer.

He was expressing the anger that many of us feel.

I feel angry and he did NOT express my rage whatsoever.

Women rarely lie about these things.... but you have had 200+ pages of this argument. You went in gunning for Kavanaugh and was never going to believe Ford unless there was video.

It doesn’t mean it happened and it doesn’t mean it was our newest supreme. Congratulations Brett! Make ‘em Pay!

BK is going to spend decades exacting vengeance from his seat on the SCOTUS.

Truly awesome.

Well at least you admit he doesn’t have the right disposition and temperament to be on SCOTUS.

Now that the rape gambit failed, it’s his “temperament.” Give it up, desperate one.

Exactly. And as for his temperament, of course he’s distraught! I wouldn’t have expected him to be calm and collected after the week he’s had. No matter what anyone claims about his life “not being ruined,” it absolutely has been. He has been accused of sexual assault, which he flatly denies. I believe him. If my husband, father, or son were falsely accused, I would never be able to hold it together. His testimony was truly heartbreaking. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a disgusting display of ugliness, either on TV or here on DCUM.

So I was watching the coverage a moment ago in CNN. And they had a panel of both Republicans and Democrats arguing back-and-forth about their perspectives of the hearings today. For kicks I just put on Lou Dobbs on Fox news. Completely different coverage..completely smearing the “dems” and thr “smear campaign”’ how Kavanaugh was wronged.

It is so freaking biased and it makes me angry that a huge population of Americans only watch Fox for their news and get a strongly slanted view of the news. I know, I know this is old news for most people. But we need to somehow get the fairness doctrine reinstated. This is why our country is so divided .

I listened to the hearing in its entire day. And I have made my own opinion. Came up with a very different conclusion then Lou Dobbs and his one sidedpanel

Today we saw how Kavanaugh is when he doesn't get what he wants. Apoplectic rage.
