This is true - Modern "Palestine" is an artificial creation by the UK. And, there was no such thing as a "Palestinian" identity or nationalism movement until the 1960s.

Well the modern creation of Israel took a holocaust... perhaps, there is light at the end of the tunnel for our Palestinian friends after all.

Weaponizing the state because you have a political disagreement on an anonymous online forum?

Really?

Not to mention, there has been no Hanas support or Jewish hatred. I’ve yet to see any individual post here in support of Hamas, nor post anything that I would consider representative of hatred toward Jews broadly. And yet, this individual wants to corrupt FBI personnel right into a DOJ-OIG / Title 5, Ch. 75 quagmire for personal gain - because this thread remains alive as testament to the atrocities committed by Israel?

Wouldn’t the more sensible act be to exit the conversation altogether if the details related to Israel’s extensive atrocities are too much to countenance without threatening to violate the constitutional rights of others? Perhaps that would be SOP in Israel, but here in the U.S.?

Can someone please explain why these protesters weren't at the RNC? I honestly don't understand why they're protesting the DNC, but not Bibi's bestie Donald, who definitely doesn't care about Palestinians.

These are people who want “their party” to represent their interests. The leadership just expects everyone to shut up and fall in line. Things are changing.

Well, they are going about it the wrong way. They are just preaching to the choir at this point. Everyone else on the fence is getting increasingly turned off.

Reminds me of the Bernie Bros.

What else can you do if you do not feel your party doesn’t look out for you — and many others feel the same way for the same reasons?

What’s interesting now is the seemingly opposing interests within the party over Israel-Palestine. I’m from DearborN-Detroit. Very curious how this will play out.

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I understand that, except that so many people I know on the pro-Palestine/super-Progressive side (including my brother in law, so not, like, distant acquaintances) don't actually consider themselves Democrats. They consider themselves Progressives or Socialists (BIL is a card-carrying member of the DSA). The whole point of throwing in with the Democrats (running as Dems, etc) was to gain power in a two-party system, which, as a moderate, I don't like, because get out of my party, but I understand from a tactical perspective. But then if the point was to gain political power and have a chance of winning in a two-party system, why alienate so many moderates who you need to vote for Harris to win in the first place? Like, I get advocating for your stances with the party you think will actually somewhat listen to you. But then I start thinking about their plan in any kind of detail, and the whole thing just falls apart.

RNC not in power at executive level at the moment?

I think they are there but you have to remember Trump has purged the Republican Party. There is no descent or differences allowed. Everyone has to follow in line with what Trump says or you are out. There are a lot of true antisemitists around Trump but they do not care about Israel. As my older Jewish neighbor pointed out during Trump’s term. There are a lot of Neo Nazis in high positions in the Trump administration. He listed them and quoted them. It was eye opening.

I am finding it is just not “leftists” and “liberals” who are taking a stand against Israel’s actions in the Middle East and its unpresidential influence over our political system. Things have really changed in the last 8-9 months. I do not think the pro Israel crowd really realizes how far things have gone. My very conservative BIL asked to change dinner reservations because the restaurant’s description was Israeli/jewish. It was done in a nice way but it was clear he did not want to support Israel or Jews who do. First time ever he did something like that.

They don't get to call the Democrats "their party" when they run around shrieking "Genocide Joe" and heckling Democrats during campaign events and so on. They have clearly taken a hateful, adversarial anti-Democrat position.

And don't even get me started on the fact that they are being organized and funded by Iran. To me, that means their political party is the IRGC, and it's clear they won't vote for Democrats - I don't recognize them as Democrats.

The Dems are a lot more than just Israel. You only care about Israel and enforcing your views on everyone else.

JERUSALEM/CAIRO, Aug 19 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned on Monday that the latest push for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal was probably the best and possibly last opportunity, urging Israel and Hamas towards an elusive agreement.
However, with Palestinian Islamist group Hamas announcing a resumption of suicide bombing inside Israel after many years, and with Israeli airstrikes still pounding Gaza, there was little sign of conciliation.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/blinken-warns-israel-hamas-best-last-chance-end-gaza-war-2024-08-19/

It is interesting how this article includes Hamas. Hamas is not even at these meetings. It is just Blinken and Israel. Israel has said no for the countless time. It is clear which side does not want to free the hostages. Not that it matters in Israel.

NP- I think the "free Palestine" crowd is clearly obsessed with Israel, and does not care at all about women's rights in the US. It's especially stupid because we can do more for the latter than the former, so if both matter, why go with the issue that won't be fixed to your liking anyway because neither GOP nor Dem are going to suddenly become anti-Israel?

Let's be blunt and honest here - the staunchly pro-Hamas part of America may be obnoxiously loud and visible through its vandalism and occupying of street intersections but in terms of numbers, it's only 2% tops even in places like Michigan which has the highest percentage of Muslims. You want to enforce your views on 98% of America.
