Couple things - they apparently reported him missing to the FBI the same night he left after not returning home. Second, you don’t know what he told his parents. The petito/s didn’t text/call until the 10th- the day before they filed the report and the van was confiscated. They admittedly included in their texts that they were going to call the cops. If the laundry’s didn’t know anything up until then, there was probably a wild scene in the household trying to figure it out with Brian which we know led to the attorney being retained on the 11th, if not the night of the 10th and then instructing them not to talk

Brian and Gabby were in an unhealthy relationship, and Brian was the primary abuser. He killed her in a fit of rage after multiple escalating instances. The women interviewed were saying they immediately knew what happened to her, before they found her body, when they saw the video (that he strangled her). It is apparently well-known among people who study domestic violence. It probably was not the first time he strangled her, and he may not have even meant to kill her. I hate that the police that were called didn't have the training they needed - Gabby might still be alive.

I think he committed suicide, but may have been snacked on by an alligator after the fact. Alligators store food underwater for a while to soften it, but if they are scavenging something that is already soft, no need. Plus, that area was underwater until recently.

As time went on, he felt remorse and/or guilt. Started seeing what the world thought of him and what he was doing to his parents, and decided he had nothing to live for.

This is what I read as well.

Laundries notified FBI when Brian didn’t return from hike, but the memo didn’t go far, either within the FBI or to local authorities.

FBI days later tells Laundries that there was a reported Brian sighting in Tampa.
Laundries- “glad you found him.”
FBI- “what do you mean, isn’t he at home?!”
Laundries- “uh, no- we reported him missing, to the FBI, days ago.”

Yes. They didn’t report it for days, couldn’t even remember the day he left, went and picked up his car, etc. So sketchy.
