There is no 4th choice.

Mine are:
Harris
Warren
Demmings

Warren would be replaced by a GOP appointment, so that seems a non-starter.

FFS, no she wouldn’t.

Yes she would https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/499843-warrens-vp-bid-faces-obstacle-her-states-republican-governor

Harris would be an excellent VP. She knows government. Has great policy ideas. Will surround herself with competent people. And can step in as POTUS on day-one.

What are her great policy ideas? Be specific.

I knew for sure you'd bite.

Rabid opposition is so ugly.

What'd she do to you?

NP: your deflecting. It highlights her lack of policy ideas.

Nah, shorty. If you can dig up and post extensive background pieces on Rep. Bass, you can do the same homework for Sen. Harris.

We’re back to she has none. I am not a fan of Karen Bass but her legislative experience spans more than a decade from what I can tell. Kamala is a Junior Senator who has her entire career watched and waited while others took policy or took the lead on positions (mortgage fraud - NY/Del AG and Newsom out in front, Gay marriage, one payer insurance, legalization of marijuana, BLM).

Ok, Harris has zero policy ideas or accomplishments. Why do you think Harris is a top contender for the VP slot?

Because she’s the most famous other than Warren due to her presidential run, is telegenic and charismatic,
and some appreciate her attack dog style. Not one list ranking her first has focused on policy substance. She had trouble figuring that out during her presidential run and is too new to the Senate otherwise. Maybe she could grow into it, I don’t know. Her interviews are usually tough going.

I've enjoyed reading folks' thoughts, so I'm trying not to monopolize the broader discussion of likely VP picks.

So I'll lay down my cards and walk away:
I always supported Biden for president.
I was big-time Warren for VP, following Biden's win. I don't see Warren happening, now.
Harris grew on me. I follow her twitter feed and I think that's a decent place to learn about the policy areas she has supported/supports.
I love that she is Black and a woman.
She has room to grow and I believe she will - either as VP, Supreme Court Justice, AG, Senator...

In the end, I will vote for Biden. No matter what/who is on his ticket. I believe (hope) you feel the same way. Again, I have enjoyed reading about the merits of any our VP options. But I do worry that we can shoot ourselves in the foot by making mincemeat of our own candidates.

Wasn't President Obama also the junior senator from Illinois?

Obama is arguable the most talented politician of our lifetime. He had unmatched charm, charisma, and speaking ability. Kamala is a decent retail politician, but please do not compare the two.

He also had a message "Hope and Change" that resonated with many Americans. Kamala doesn't have a clear vision.

All of the candidates have strengths and weaknesses. I truly believe any of them would be an asset in certain respects but I do worry Rice could hurt the ticket. And Warren, even though they’re the strongest in terms of policy chops. Bass too. Is it a coincidence the strongest women in terms of policy are the most demonized? I wonder. These are the three who are most reassuring to me in terms of knowing their stuff, but seem weakest in terms of electability. I have no clue who is the right choice at this point.

At any rate, I wish Biden well with this tough decision and will of course be voting blue no matter who.

+1 and it is much harder for a woman to convince that she’s both competent and appealing.

NP. There is always an aura of stankedness surrounding posts for her. Not a good look.

Kamala's supporters are going crazy over this

Prior to being a Senator Harris was the Attorney General of California which has a hell of a lot more responsibility than a state House member.

I actually think “For the People” was one of the best messages/slogans in the D primary.

Safest path to a win with swing votes/states
1.Whitmer
2.Duckworth

Warren is my favorite because she is so smart but not safe with swing voters.
Maybe Demings
No to Harris and Bass and Rice.

Duckworth. I really want to see Ds make inroads with vets and members of the military. Asian. A mom with young kids, lots her legs in combat, smart and tough as nails. She ticks a lot of boxes. I think she might have run this time, but she had just given birth.

Also like Whitmer.

Rice is a terrible pick. It already looks like Obama’s third term. Dems need to move beyond just Obama nostalgia. And I would love someone with actual governing experience.

Bass has not impressed, but I haven’t seen a ton of her.

I love Harris. But something about her made her campaign flop. Unless someone can explain what that is, and how it would change, I’m concerned. She was the early favorite. Until people saw her in action. People— even POC— found her off putting. Not sure why?

Val Demmings would be great too.

But Duckworth’s #1 on my radar.

We get it. You don’t want to see a WOC in the role. Well based on his gaffes this week, apparently neither does Joe

I am one of those people who had high hopes for Harris. She did not debate too well. That was a downer for me. And she could not elaborate on her plans in depth. To me she comes across as a good package but not much substance.
