This exactly, particularly out in Loudoun. Youngkin had tables out and a very organized presence at pretty much every family-oriented Loudoun event, staffed by families, and they were pushing the education line.

They had quite the presence at the P-ville townwide tag sale event a few weeks ago. Way bigger presence than the Democrats.

It’s not just the closures though. It’s also the fact that when we finally got back to school, the focus should have been one two and three on learning loss and getting kids back up to speed. Instead it was … TJ admissions, renaming schools, and dumb trans stuff that affects like 12 kids in the county. Distraction issues. Now is a Republican Governor going to get the local SB’s in shape and doing their real jobs? No. But a D Governor is just going to enable the behavior even more.

This election very much reminds me of the 2016 general election in terms of presence. Not that Trump won in Virginia but you simply don't feel the campaigning effort by McAullife. Not that either had a positive policy message, but at Youngkin's message was a tangible issue while McAullife's message was all about Trump. Thing is, the only group is bringing up Trump are the Dems and the Lincoln Project grifters while Youngkin (who is clearly a corporatist moderate R RINO) constantly tries to weasel his way out of ties with Trump since the primaries.

You essentially said well Sally who lives one town over kids are in school, but my kids can’t be in school. Foot stamp. Not noticing that maybe it was not in the kids best interest to be there at all last year. It’s an adult temper tantrum. We have elementary students as well.

And the CRT issue is not a real thing. Teach accurate history and critical thinking skills. Give our children an opportunity to form their own opinions. It’s long past time to include the full story.

DP. But why would some random person want to "listen" to the polls? What would that even mean? I vote for the people who will, in my opinion, do the best job as an elected official. Polls don't change that and I'm not changing who I vote for based on what other people want (nor do I expect them to change who they vote for based on what I believe). Sometimes my candidate wins, sometimes they lose, but I always feel good about my choices.

DP. He pulled us out of Afghanistan, the first president to do so. And he's told everyone that we will defend Taiwan, also the first president to do so.

I'm not sure democrats are wise to run on the Afghanistan withdrawal as a signature accomplishment, and defending Taiwan is an empty promise and everyone knows it. Taiwan is a short flight from multiple Chinese airfields and in range of god knows how many missile batteries. If they invade all any president could do is strongly protest at the UN.

Yeah, I keep seeing news stories about how things are so bad that Afghan families are selling their young daughters. Not a good look. Also let me know if there's a place I can donate that's helping these families so they don't have to do that.

I’m a DP. We didn’t want to pull out like this!! Biden manufactured a complete CF in Afghanistan that erased years of progress with his horribly myopic decisions. And yes, Biden said we will defend Taiwan, BUT PSAKI HAD TO WALK THAT BACK BECAUSE HE WAS TALKING OUT HIS ASS AND CONTRADICTED US POLICY ACCORDING TO THE TAIWAN RELATIONS ACT. His entire foreign policy is in shambles, leaving us vulnerable to an attack (anyone go to a mall in Fairfax County over the weekend?). And let’s not forget our southern border (Does it bother anyone that Biden is now telling people not to
come here?). Oh, and our shipping back-ups. And gas prices. And inflation. And that he wants to pay people who were separated from families at the border $450k. And police are leaving the force because, guess what? They don’t want to be defunded and devalued.

The exit was always going to look like this. The Taliban prisoners had been released before the inauguration and they were steadily advancing against a corrupt and incompetent government. We could have surged back in and tried to prop them up, but no one would have supported that so we left. There was no way that there would have ever been enough seats on the flights or that whatever airport we chose to exit from wasn't going to be mobbed by desperate people. It's still not an accomplishment that Biden can run on. Just imagine that this withdawrl was dragged out long enough to get out everyone who wanted out- do you think Americans would welcome a million Afghan refugees? a half million?

Yes, it was an ugly situation on inauguration day and there was no easy solution here.

And it's completely irrational to tie this to a gubernatorial election. Neither Youngkin nor McAuliffe will affect national foreign policy.
