I loved, loved, loved Laura Bush's look and she and her DH looked very nattily dressed.

OMG she is beautiful. Total girl crush.

I was trying to express to my kids the wonder of J Lo. I cried during her song.

I thought she was so cheesy. So 2008. It was a weird choice...a celebrity who made it about her, rather than about the solemn occasion that it was. So flashy and tacky.

Loved Garth Brooks. Loved Biden's speech.

FP Obama didn’t seem to like like JLo’s performance.
+1. I thought everything was flawless except Garth brooks’ pants were inappropriate and trying to make it about himself, and j lo’s performance was horrific
and embarrassing.

She looked like one of the orange skin family. Other that that, I liked when she said a few words in Spanish.

I think it would be better without the ruffle bow.

I actually love the ruffle bow and the whole look.

Although I love Michelle’s colors, she would have looked much better to me had she worn a smaller belt. The one she had on is bulky and ugly, my eyes kept being drawn to it.

Hillary, the ruffles!

Jill, that blue color with the fur was blinding.

That lady (forgot her name) in the yellow/mustard coat, aye! Not the right choice of color.

JLO, like someone mentioned here before: this is Vegas! I was expecting her singing to be a disaster but she did well.

Kamala was appropriately dressed.

It was freezing. I'm surprised people could wear anything but ski pants and jackets.

Nothing fancy. But I thought she brought a really nice energy to her role today.

It was the coat she wore when she announced her candidacy for the dem nomination.

Not my cup of tea but they're young and should be having fun experimenting with fashion.

No. They look like pioneer women

+1 That’s not fashion. Quirky yes, but not fashion.

You may not like it, but Batsheva and Ulla Johnson = fashion. And since when is quirky equivalent to not fashion?

Like them or hate them (and I like them), it is so refreshing to see young women in the president’s orbit not dolled up to look pleasing to men.

Good to know when she is responsible for the country's budget.

Wow, this thread took a turn. It was so fun yesterday. I don’t love Meena’s dress for me, but it was cool. Her little girls are so cute and her husband is clearly into fashion too. Now I want to follow her on Instagram.

If you don’t know who Amy Klobuchar is, did you not turn on a TV for the entire primary season? I saw questions about Janet Yelland, too? Maybe the people commenting aren’t from DC and don’t know their politicians like we do.

My 4yo son thought Jill Biden looked like Elsa from Frozen and that Lady Gaga looked great except for the ribbons in her hair. My faves were Kamala Harris and Laura Bush.

Of course I know that she is a senator. I also know that the house and senate consider the president's budget proposals, so each senator is an important part of the budget process. I know who Janet Yelland is.

I just like the fact that people will rewear clothes and don't need a new outfit for each new occasion.

How many runaway shows have you been to? I'm honestly curious.

These remind me of Christian Siriano FW2020.

You do realize that just because a fashion designer came up with something and paraded it down the runway, doesn’t mean that creation is attractive or flattering, right? We get that you fancy yourself in the know about all things fashion, but plenty of others here are as well. And we think those particular creations would be right at home on the prairie.

Have you ever thought that they don't give a s*** if you find them attractive? They are Californian and Brooklynite with a different style esthetic. They like Batsheva Hay's designs and she represents their idea of pretty. The step-daughter is at Parsons.

Welcome to the Beauty and Fashion forum on a parents site. Now please chill out.

Anonymous wrote:For Dr. Biden’s outfit, I did wonder about the sparkles and the fit. She is in great shape, but her outfit was a bit tight. It occurs to me that she was put in some kind of bulletproof-ish garb underneath her dress - at the last minute - therefore making everything fit awkwardly.

Props to her for walking around in those heels all day, though!

Former lingerie salesperson here. My first thought was that she needed a better bra—one that minimizes a bit. Her bra looked pointy, which when coupled with slight hunching (probably due to the cold), contributed to the coat’s poor fit. I like her—and am happy that a fellow academic is First Lady—but this was my quick thought when she came out.

You have no taste or fashion sense.

+1. Plus she somehow doesn’t know who Amy Klobuchar is so I’m discounting her opinion on appropriate inaugural fashion.

The coat seemed to cause issues. I saw someone helping her button it and I saw later it was unbuttoned toward the bottom. Oh, well. Humanizing.

PP here, yes the placement of that button combined with pointy bra created the ill fit.

I’m not a ruffles type of person but the burgundy dress isn’t bad.
