It seems all about schools because that was the part of the forum it was posted in, but the MCA also cited land use decisions and governance over public services (cops, roads, etc.) |
FIFY: But if you think throwing money at poorer schools will make a difference in outcomes, then I'm not sure we're going to get anywhere in a discussion. |
| I'm laughing so hard at everyone saying they pay more taxes in McLean so they deserve more. Pretty sure you knew what you were getting into when you bought a huge house in an expensive part of the county!! LOL. |
Try to keep up. It's more like they've said they pay a lot of taxes, so it seems like they should certainly get the same as everyone else. It has only become obvious relatively recently that the county and FCPS now believe there should be an inverse relationship: the more you pay, the less you get in return. |
Poor McLean. The Langley renovation has driven you crazy. You can't even make logical arguments. |
Well you need to spend a few days analyzing budget documents and CIP-facilities documents. Have you figured out the per head cost for each IB diploma candidate? Everything you posted is not relevant to Fairfax County and spending per school site. Guess what? I know immigrants in Herndon that feel ripped off by bat money flowing to Bailey's and Hunters Woods. Not to mention the Herndon AP costs v the wads of money on IB. Then schlep over to Reston and it's special tax district. 3 million extra from our property taxes goes to TJ. IB middle school? FX is not a county on Long Island in NY state with mini school districts and extremes in local ability to fund. This is not about affluent families with high amounts of property taxes. It's about FX county and inequity. |
I understood PP. Not sure what your problem is. |
The Langley renovation mismanagement by FCPS was absolutely classic of the problem. Langley was being renovated. Instead of doing a good job, they went over the top and added a whole addition to a school that didn't need it. |
I can just imagine the shit that would hit the fan as they drew boundary lines and those left out by a block or a few feet or whatever started screaming unfair. |
That would be a sad commentary on how people feel about the county and FCPS right now, wouldn't it? |
|
Yes but will an independent McLean School District have enough expertise in transgender elementary school bathrooms, racial grievance school renaming, and LGBTQ+@#!@$ studies?
Won't they be missing out on the coming FCPS racial bussing experience? Will they have enough students of Special Hues who are permitted to get away with misbehavior and troublemaking to keep the "disparate discipline" rates pleasing to the liberal conscious? So many questions! |
I love in N Arlington a few blocks from McLean. Wish we could leave and join them! |
we moved here over 20 years ago. Friends in Reston told me pre real estate selection that he special tax district would be gone when the bond was paid off in 1999. Guess what? Still paying. People vote for bonds because they mix in pork with the necessary. No one expected the excessive expenditure on Langley. Just poor work. This county is run by the Lee and Mount Vernon Districts. It's really over the top with Bulova retiring and MacKay [ex Lee] now Chair. We've wanted out ever since he called the open capacity at Mount Vernon the elephant in the room for the West Potomac addition. June 2019. Blatant abuse of people across this county in all but Lee and Mount Vernon Magisterial Districts. And the abuse of people goes all the way to Dulles for the Sully District. |
One of those doesn't quite belong with the others. |
+ 1. DH and I already decided on private/boarding. Please consider these options Mclean residents! The way we are vilified for looking out for our child's interests by upholding standards is mind-blowing. |
