Newsflash - they don't read this thread. Take your demands upstairs if you actually want to make change. Posting here is meaningless.

Yes they do. They know exactly what this board says. And I have talked to them directly. They know exactly what I think of their decisions. Thankfully, my child is a senior and I have no other kids. Nothing to lose. Lastly, the benefit of the broader community to know which school is standing in the way/lack of leadership will allow them to make the best decision they can when it comes to closing a school.

And yes...I know it is athletics, but w/o athletics, my kids wouldn't be in the universities that they are/have attended, so it is a big deal to many families like mine.

Was not posting to put down the importance of athletics at all. Agree with your points. Just want people like you to take their opinions to people in power.

Those schools lose the right to say they are "in it for the kids"...

IAC Parent here.

"HS club games" is code for club programs trying to do more lining of their pockets during a pandemic, I'll take my son being coached in HS over club any day.

Your son must play for a bad Club.
Not PP. Tell me which club practices and plays as much as 6 days per week for 3 months like HS teams. Tell me which good clubs or better have players that don't also play HS lacrosse. The answer to both is nada.

Look - the point being made is that the HS coaches/ADs/Heads cruelly, and in contradiction to science, denied healthy teenage student athletes the opportunity to compete and develop in their sports all fall, winter and now at the beginning of the lacrosse season. Any venue that provides players the opportunity to train and compete, even if for a short period of time, should be embraced. Intra squad practice is NOT the same as competitive games and any HS or college coach knows that. The whole year has been a big fail, and the lack of leadership is truly deplorable.

Thanks for clarifying- good points. Local public HS have been able to conduct swimming and basketball seasons (including post season) this past winter and these both are indoor sports. So it's inexplicable that lacrosse can't be done. Club lacrosse has been done last summer, fall and will be this spring (youth lacrosse)

Public schools also had a wrestling season. They also have lacrosse schedules taking shape

Agree the situation is a mess but can't see that coaches themselves have much power as compared to ADs or HoS - coaches aren't policy makers in high schools.

Was there ever a consensus as to if/when games will start? Have tryouts at most schools even taken place yet?

SJC is scrimmaging most MIAA schools
Anonymous
how is SJC allowed to scrimmage MIAA teams and Gonzaga is hardly doing anything?

Both teams are based in DC too.

I don't think they are doing anything in DC. The football team has been at old WFT park.

SJC’s football team was at Troy Park last Friday.

Absolute disgrace the team has to travel all over Maryland and Virginia to get field time. DC’s mayor is a complete joke!
