Our Girls DA is already recognized as one of the regional and national leaders in player development and programming. This partnership will move us forward, improving the programming and development opportunities.

What does this mean for the Girls DA leadership and coaching staff? We will continue to work with the coaches that have provided some of the best coaching, training, and development in the area. Bobby and Christian will still run and manage the Development Academy, along with the current Development Academy staff coaches and our goalkeeper coach Zach, just like we do now.

What about our training and match location? The majority of our training sessions and matches will still be held at Evergreen Sportsplex, very similar to what we do now. St James is providing us with additional opportunities if we want to use them. We will be cautious about travel distance to training as well as the geography make-up of teams. For the winter period, we will have access to a full size 11v11 indoor field and futsal courts for training and can provide a year-round opportunity to maximize the performance output for our players. This is something no other club in the area can offer and this partnership adds more value to our program.

This partnership does not change any previously offered roster spots for the 2019-2020 DA season. We are continuing as planned as we have strengthened the rosters for each of our DA teams.
We will have an open house date where everyone will be invited to see the new facility as well as a presentation about how the Girls DA will benefit from this.

Be honest. Are you a little nervous the BRYC will lose ground in ECNL next year? Probably a big year for you with recruiting. St James players will be moving to MYS and Loudoun.

The Baltimore Armour brand was created in 2015 with John Ellinger at the helm and quickly became the top choice for male players in Maryland. Comprised of leadership and resources from SAC & Pipeline, Baltimore Armour’s sole objective was to build a world-class training environment. Pipeline and SAC will continue to operate on the club level while providing this tremendous resource for its players. Baltimore Armour Girls will be run and operated by it’s existing Board of Governance (Pipeline Soccer Club: Sean Rush (Baltimore Armour Girls Director of Operations) & Santino Quaranta (Baltimore Armour Girls Academy Director), SAC: Craig Blackburn (Executive Director) & John Ellinger (Baltimore Armour Boys Academy Director). Each year the club has grown creating a clear pathway of success both for individual players, and collective teams. “We have worked very hard to create an environment that is unmatched on the boys side, and fully expect to duplicate this for our girls” said Santino Quaranta. “The academy system and training environment is for players driven both on and off the field.” We are thrilled with the opportunity to provide these young women youth national team exposure and college pathways” added Quaranta. The Academy Program’s philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition. The Academy expanded programming to include a Girls Development Academy in the Fall of 2017. The Academy has 197 total clubs between the boys and girls. The Academy Program focuses on positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country. The Academy values individual development of elite players over winning trophies and titles. The Academy sets the standard for elite environments for youth soccer clubs nationwide and is a part of U.S. Soccer’s global leadership position in youth soccer that will impact thousands of players.

I find it interesting this announcement omits Spirit completely. Is it a transfer or are they starting their teams from scratch?

They are not affiliated with Spirit anymore than the other "partner" clubs like Vienna and Potomac.

I'd be shocked if Balt Armour goes away. The club is run by SAC and Pipeline, both established clubs, and the boys DA program has been around for a while. The WSMD team was run and coached by Pipeline and SAC coaches, all of whom are transitioning to Balt Armour GDA. Also, it is the only DA or ECNL club in Baltimore, with its closest competition to the south east and south west in MDU and BSC. All of which is to say it has the ingredients to be successful.

None of those same things are true of the xWSVA club. It is fair to question whether the new Metro United will be around much longer. I'm very interested to see their rosters for next year.
