bridgeport?

Remember when Harold Washington who became the first black mayor, ran against Eddie Vrdolyak. IIRC Vrdolyak's campaign gave out buttons that had no words on them. They were just solid white.

Not that far.

They were probably rednecks from nearby counties.

who go to Chicago past midnight - staying outside in subzero weather, waiting for someone exiting a 24-hour Subway with a sandwich in his hand

I think that's the answer.

Who wants to call the PD?

Two white trash rednecks looking to gaybash a young black man, that's who.

Unfortunately, there's about 50,000,000 possible suspects in this country.

And yet, only two murky, shapeless, indistinguishable figures were captured on all of the many high-tech cameras in that area of Chicago. So curious.

Guess those cameras aren’t that high-tech after all.

I'm sorry - those of you who believe this story with no skepticism at all are some of the most gullible people imaginable. And that's putting it kindly. Come on.

Yes, yes - you're right. It's the fault of those darn old-fashioned cameras for not picking up any suspicious activity at all in the reported area.

Chicago
In 2005, Operation Virtual Shield (OVS), a Homeland Security Grid, was established in Chicago that is composed of 600 miles of fiber optics stretching across the city. The feeds from these surveillance cameras and sensors are centrally monitored by the City’s Operation Center for emergencies. The system captures and processes camera feeds in real time, and is able to detect suspicious or dangerous activity and identify its location. It is estimated there are more than 17,000 cameras in Chicago, including 4,000 installed by Chicago Public Schools and at least 1,000 at O’Hare International Airport. Chicago has the largest, most sophisticated surveillance network in the United States at this present time. Mayor Daley “has called it the “next best thing” to a police officer on every corner”.

Ok. I’m sure it’s helpful in some ways - tracking cars on roads - but not helpful in every possible way. Like an attack in a tucked-away corner. And even great technology has limitations - look at the picture quality at night.

It’s a bummer, but the more this story unfolds the less convinced I am of Smollett’s account. The question I cannot answer is what on earth would be his motivation for lying.

the latest from Smollett himself - The story keeps changing.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/jussie-smollett-clarifies-details-attack-073642552.html

Frank Gatson is his choreographer. When did he suddenly show up in the picture. first I've heard of him

"There's a lot of stuff that's been said about me that is absolutely not true," Smollett said before speaking out about his injuries. "I was bruised but my ribs were not cracked. They were not broken."

"I went to the doctor immediately. Frank Gatson drove me, I was not hospitalized," he added. "Both my doctors in L.A. and Chicago cleared me to perform, but said to take care, obviously."

Smollett also stressed that he fought back against his attackers.

and the doctor was available at 3am?

he fought back while holding his phone in one hand and the sandwich in the other?

To cover for something else.

That made me laugh!

The sandwich would be evidence, no? If it was intact, then something DEFINITELY isn't right.

Another question i have is..I’ve heard it suggested that he kept the noose on for 40+ minutes to preserve “evidence,” but if that was the case, why didn’t he call the police immediately? IIRC there are also conflicting reports about how the noose was tied.

Reports are that he passed the security guard in the building and didn't say anything.

This just doesn't make sense.
It is almost as if he wanted to get back to his apartment to call his publicist to get a story out there.

I'm not sure we will ever hear the whole story.

No, it won't come out. It will remain "unsolved."
