Did he confess? I thought he got caught?

Their problem wasn't their income it was living far above their means. Either way, she was married to a psychopath and didn't know it. That's always the disturbing part. Scott Peterson had a history of cheating and odd behavior. I think whatever develops there were signs all along. Seems like these guys always prey on these types of women until they tire of them.

This is what I just can't wrap my head around, the notion of being married to someone and having no idea they're a psychopath capable of murdering you. It just blows my mind. And sorry but even if their marriage was rocky, I don't think based on her demeanor in all of the videos that she had ANY clue he was capable of something like this.

It also blows my mind that he could have gotten away with this, although the comments to that effect do make sense. Did he lead authorities to the oil barrels, or did they figure that out some other way?

I've thought it's a little odd the the friend did sound the alarm so quickly, in like 6 hours. Even with a close friend, I wouldn't assume something was wrong if I couldn't get in touch all day. I wonder if she just had a bad feeling.

The kind of friend you’re riding around at 2AM with and going to out of town weekend meetings with is probably the only person you told the true extent of your marital problems to. The friend also knew that Shanannhad just come back from taking her kids and spending six weeks with her parents in the Carolina.

That’s on top of the fact that Shanann missed a business meeting (also with the friend) and didn’t text her how the pre-natal appointment went.

Pretty safe to say it wouldn’t be hard for her to know something was up.

Something that's supposed to improve energy level and promote weight loss.

Someone should look into whether this product people are putting into their systems can have any effect on the mind (mood, impulse control, etc)

Hm, maybe it just involves the patches. But it definitely seems to give people a weird "buzz" of energy.
It doesn't mean he wouldn't be responsible for his actions, but I wonder if this thrive stuff doesn't have an impact on a person's impulse and judgement the way meth or alcohol can

In this article,

"A month later, she posted a screenshot of a text with her husband, who had just started a weight-loss patch. Chris sent her a photo of himself smiling with the sticker on his arm. “I cannot stay still. I vacuumed the kitchen, entry ways and mopped them. Vacuumed downstairs and now moving upstairs,” Chris wrote, adding a shrug emoji.

“I am really feeling the need to ‘gift’ this to my hubby for Father’s day!” one of Shanann’s friends commented. In response, Shanann joked, “Gift it then leave for the day.”

On June 15, Shanann wrote, “Chris, just said he’s been more talkative since he started #Burn! Talking to random strangers. #Hesaintrovert.”

The next day, she shared a photo of a shirtless Chris mowing the lawn. “I love my sexy man! He keeps asking for things to do since he started #Burn,” Shanann wrote. “He’s getting his tan on for San Diego he said.”

It's not a new article, but I only saw it today. Interesting. You never really totally know someone.

To the patch people - give it a rest. She had to make biweekly posts to push her snake-oil product. Since she was preggers and the kids were underage, that left him.

Ive used Thrive batches. They in no way effect impulse control or judgement. At most it’s like drinking a cup of coffee (which does nothing for me).

Really? What other white man killed his family, got convicted of the murders, got 2-3 years, and started another family? Link and citation or you are a liar.

Umm Drew Peterson?

Married four women. First two lived. Third died in 2004 and was found to have been drowned in a bathtub. Coroner's jury decided he was a devoted husband and couldn't have done it. Wasn't til 2008 that it was officially ruled a homicide.

Or Robert Durst?

Murdered wife who went 'missing'. He cancelled her credit cards, dumped her possessions, and reduced a search reward in less than three weeks. He got 5 years in prison, 3 with time served...for murdering someone ELSE. Not her.

Neither of those guys killed their wives and kids and were convicted and set free after 2-3 years.

Both are murderers but didn’t get away with it because they were white. They were evil guys who were crafty. Both had people in their lives who felt they were guilty and kept trying to get them arrested and tried and convicted.
\

Durst is sitting in jail in LA awaiting trial for killing Karen Berman as we speak. And his lawyer is still trying to keep his wife's sister's mouths shut.

Lol.. at anyone giving an excuse for him doing this.

Thrive will not make you a murdering sociopath.

Honestly I think he would have gotten away with it. They would have never found those girls in the oil drums. Ever. Too large and too expensive to dump all of them without proof because the oil company would have fought it.

He could have moved the mom's body later as well or just left her where he buried her.

The only and I mean ONLY reason he got caught is because the best friend sounded the alarm less than six hours after the murder.

School was out of session too. He could have had 2 days or so to say they ran off and she was probably on her way back home to SC. The amber alert would have had to cover at minimum two states and more likely eight (the route between the states).

Meanwhile - no bodies, no crime.

I believe his next court appearance is in November. That's when more info. will be released.

He confessed right away probably because they told him they have photographic evidence of where his truck was. Traffic cameras, business cameras, satellite would track his truck to the oil field. They would find the bodies with scent dogs and searching. Once they found the wife obviously they would know the kids were nearby.
His plan was incredibly bad which makes me think it wasn't pre-planned. More like a rage killing, then haphazardly had to dispose of the bodies.

As for the gay lover Banfield is getting a lot of criticism for not checking first. That story is starting to smell.

Smell? Why would he lie about being a murderer's former lover?

Also re getting caught...lots of family murderers get away with it for a long while. No bodies, no crime.

So far no proof, not even texts from Watts. The nuts come out of the wood works with these cases. We'll find out soon enough.

Yes some do get away with it for a long time, BUT they probably had better plans whereas this one didn't.

The police got the former male lover's number from the gay dating app messages between him and Chris Watts. That's how they called him in for an interview.

Radar Online is now saying a hair stylist is claiming she had sex in May/June with him. Said she was scared because he did it during sex, like he had a rape fantasy or something.

Until we see it in the court papers not sure how much of this is accurate, but this is the latest. If true I don't see how his wife couldn't have known about his sick lifestyle. Or found out toward the end.

The cops knew he'd been at work since early am so they got aerial drone footage of that area that showed part of the girls' bedspread sticking out of the oil well. They'd already searched the house and seen part of the same bedding in the trash can (the patterns matched).

I find it more believeable that he planned it, at least the key details, than the theory that in the span of 3 hours or less he got worked up into a murderous rage, devised a plan to hide the evidence, drove 35 miles, buried one body and dumped two others, then presented at work as normal.

You have to admit he made some clever choices in a very short turnaround time - no murder weapon, no blood, good hiding place, plausible cover story. They might not have found the bodies for days or weeks if he hadn't confessed to hiding them (can cadaver dogs sniff out bodies submerged in oil?). And if the friend hadn't alerted cops so quickly he might have had time to go back and move Shanann's body to a more discrete location.
