H1b visas. Anyone else work in technology and see the issues with this program and outsourcing?

There is something very fundamentally wrong with a country which relies on exploiting illegal immigrants to care for its most vulnerable people – the elderly and children.

But if the system only works by having very cheap labour to do these jobs, create a visa sub class specifically for this. Then you can ensure there are bare minimum protections like healthcare, a floor on remuneration, and conditions like how long the worker can remain in the country, whether they are tied to a particular employer or agency, etc. One of the main reasons to have an immigration system is to identify and address skill shortages.

We are broken.

When a major party claims it is ethical and moral to replace our children with cheap foreign labor .

What religion teaches this??

You are wrong. They are not all undocumented, and you know that. If you want to demand that MAGA drop the patriarchy, then those jobs will surely pay more. But, since MAGA hates women and children, that's not going to happen. GenX has officially screwed themselves (and their GenZ children who won't have childcare).

Since when do liberals go around caring about being wrong. They have lied and been called out numerous times in the thread.

My favorite is "Democrats support e-verify". You need to do a better job calling out your own.

BULLSHIT.
Examples of Democrats Backing E‑Verify (with concrete receipts)
Democrats repeatedly reauthorized and funded E‑Verify
– 2007, 2009, 2012, 2013 reauthorizations all passed with Democratic majorities or unified Democratic control.
– These votes kept E‑Verify alive and expanded.

2013 "Gang of Eight" bill (S.744)
– Co‑written by four Democratic senators (Schumer, Durbin, Menendez, Bennet).
– Included mandatory nationwide E‑Verify with phased rollout.
– Passed the Senate 68–32, with every Democrat voting yes.

Obama administration expanded E‑Verify for federal contractors
– DHS under Obama strengthened the system, added photo‑matching, and required E‑Verify for federal contractors.

Bernie Sanders (2019)
– Told Washington Post he supported "a smart and fair employment verification system," which his campaign confirmed meant an improved E‑Verify‑type system.

State‑level Democratic support (Florida)
– Reporting shows some Florida Democrats introduced or backed bills requiring all employers to use E‑Verify, alongside GOP proposals.

When you live in the MAGA bubble reality is a lie. And then you get outside of your bubble, totally oblivious to FACTS like this and lie when you accuse Democrats of never supporting e-Verify.

Maybe you didn't see the link above, but they clearly don't support it at the state level unlike Republican states.

Which link - the I9 one above? That shows a ton of red states like North Dakota have not mandated e-Verify. In fact only 38% of red states have across-the-board e-Verify mandates.

Even South Dakota only has voluntary e-Verify. If even Kristi "ICE Barbie" Noem couldn't get mandatory across-the-board e-Verify passed in a deep red state like South Dakota when she was Governor there, the PP's narratives about how this is all about Democrats collapses pathetically.

Democrats think that is important South Dakota, but what about California. California actually restricts the use of voluntary e-verify.

Oh, noes liberals saying stuff on the internet again.

Oh, noes MAGA making nonsensical arguments again when their lies are called out.

Democrat lies are more numerous than fraudulent social security numbers.

Keep spouting your nonsense and stay mad.

Any of my friends and colleagues could do this job. Anyone 2 years out of college, even 1 year out. A smart American young adult of any ethnicity, of any background, so long as they’ve proved themselves a bit in college, could be easily trained to do this job.

(2-3 years out could figure it out with little to no training, one year out might have to be monitored, hand holding for 3-6 months)

H1b is basically ethnically choosing who this will be. Down to 1-3 countries of origin. That is wrong. Full stop.

House Republicans just introduced the End H-1B Visa Abuse Act of 2026 — a 3-YEAR PAUSE on new H-1B visas + massive reforms to protect American workers from Big Tech abuse!

Key provisions of the bill include:

• Reducing the annual H-1B visa cap from 65,000 to 25,000 and eliminating all existing exemptions.

• Limiting visas to a single three-year term (instead of two).

• Requiring applicants to maintain a foreign residence they intend to return to.

• Mandating that employers attest they cannot find a qualified U.S. worker, that hiring the foreign worker will not harm American workers, and that they have not laid off (and will not lay off) U.S. workers in the prior or following year.

• Setting a minimum salary of $200,000 for H-1B workers.

• Awarding visas based on the highest wage offered, replacing the current lottery system.

• Prohibiting H-1B workers from working for multiple employers or third-party staffing agencies.

• Codifying President Trump’s $100,000 fee per H-1B hire.

• Banning H-1B (and H-2A/H-2B) workers from bringing family members to the U.S.

• Preventing the federal government from sponsoring or employing nonimmigrant workers.

• Requiring nonimmigrant workers to leave the U.S. before changing to another immigration status.

The bill is co-sponsored by Reps. Brian Babin (R-TX), Brandon Gill (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Wesley Hunt (R-TX), Tom McClintock (R-CA), Keith Self (R-TX), and Andy Ogles (R-TN). In the Senate, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has voiced support for a temporary pause on the H-1B program.

Not a single democrat will support US workers over big business

As always not a single democrat will help US workers before big business .

“We have plenty of qualified Missourians. H1-B program is corrupt. I am going to check into this.”

And so many people are so thick or immigrants themselves so they don’t know the history

We know republicans are evil and lie and will support big business over workers

The tragedy is that democrats used to be our party. They were the party of labor only a generation back. But they have abandoned workers and become just like republicans.

So when people say that republicans are in power so they should repeal these programs, you are missing the forest for the trees

Democrats claim that they are the party of workers, then act like it, and do what your parent democrats would have done. Stop these visa programs used by big business to replace our own children with cheaper foreign labor.
