Absolutely agree and I think most people are with you. DC is a bubble, which is dangerous for democrats. Policy makers and staffers are surrounded by a liberal echo chamber and out of touch. I’m a west coast Democrat and even WE aren’t this liberal! We have voted out our silly politicians that went too far left. |
Impeach? This is the type of unhinged “win at any cost” attitude that put the Dems on the sidelines. Try coming up with better ideas that actually help the American people, then sell those ideas to the voters, earn their votes, and then implement the ideas. Very simple. Trump, like him or not, campaigned on an America first platform, which the majority of the American public supports, and he is effectively implementing that platform. |
Nope, he campaigned on vindictiveness and cruelty (and getting people to he'd be like Trump 1 where he was somewhat reined in by his own side) and now unencumbered he's in the process he's shredding our system of checks and balances. A strong response/message is necessary by the opposition, similar to how strong he was in saying he'd do what he'd do. Opposition has to learn from him what works well ... That's simple and direct -- also within our traditions. He's not upholding our laws and going rogue. Fire the prez. |
This is an amazing time to be a Republican. Dems have self-destructed and still din’t know it. In fact, they can’t even stop making wit worse every day! Any ambitious kid coming out of college right now will likely choose the ascendant Republicans Party. Opportunities for Dems are shrinking. . |
Sure, it's because one side is extorting it's way to get what it wants -- see federal research funding, for example. That power grab won't stop, tho, if institutions give in and courts agree. Up next: executive orders on marijuana and abortion. So, yeah, the GOP will be the only game in town but what a Pottersville it will be. |
The only way to fire the Prez is to beat the Prez in an election. But as the Transgenderism Party, we’re unlikely to win popularity contests. |
I wish Dems would try to win, but we are too busy virtue signaling and holiness spiraling. We’re the “Trump is bad, migrants and trans folks are good” party. We like it that way, but we’re not going to win a lot of elections, unfortunately. |
It tells more than you think. But the real story is further down: For years, companies have blamed the lack of a sufficient recruiting pipeline for why their workplaces don’t reflect the country’s racial and ethnic makeup. White men tend to disproportionately hold the highest-paying roles, and hiring managers have long said that qualified candidates from other backgrounds for elite jobs were few and far between. The latest findings show that when under pressure to hire and promote qualified diverse talent, organizations find a way to do it. But even such big one-time gains — and losses — represent a relatively small slice of the full picture. The share of executive, managerial and professional roles held by people of color increased by about 2 percentage points compared with 2020. That still leaves most companies in our dataset lopsided, with White people holding a disproportionate share of high-paying jobs at S&P 100 companies. I doubt similar hiring disproportion happened at medium size companies and small businesses. |
They need better messaging. What they are for is protecting our constitution and rule of law, the bill of rights and so on. |
Lol. Dems need to ask swing w what they want and give it to them. Constantly asserting our nobility has backfired badly. No-one wants to be gaslit about how good Dems are on the Bill of Rights! Ha! Speech, guns, religion, privacy.’etc. Not Dem strong suits! |
You lost me at your covid rant. Absolutely ridiculous. Trump was potus. He did nothing but divide, lie, and fear monger. He threw away Obama’s pandemic playbook. He shamelessly spread misinformation. The streets were lined with refrigerated trucks full of bodies. There were mass graves. He suggested injecting bleach- prompting disinfectant companies to put a warning on their products. When he got covid, he got the care and treatment he denied others. He ridiculed people for wearing masks. I could go on for hours about all the ways he fckd up the pandemic response. When people blame Fauci and democrats for shutting things down, wearing masks, social distancing, why isn’t there any acknowledgment that this was consistent with the rest of the world? Im a teacher. In general, kids were not that upset about wearing masks. We offered spots they could go to for mask breaks. They never took us up on it. They loved our hybrid schedule and the bond they formed as a small group. Over half of my class chose to continue wearing a mask when it was optional. I am not saying the pandemic did not cause trauma or have negative effects. It did. Of course it did. Pandemics tend to do that. But the masks were not that big of a deal. The only students I had who complained about it were kids with maga parents and they were obviously repeating what their parents said. In fact, during times when lots of kids are out with flu or covid, my students still suggest that we all wear masks until everyone gets better. I got off-topic from the point of this thread, but it just really pissed me off that you think democrats should apologize for covid. |
Do you all remember when the right to burn the flag was a huge election issue? How about rap lyrics and Sister Souljah in 1992? Probably don’t ring a bell if you’re younger than fifty. Trans rights are basically the same- a single-election scare tactic that generates heat for a few years and then gets drowned out by real issues. And the only two “real” issues that have mattered in recent elections are the economy and war,
Rather than hand wringing over social issues Democrats should listen to James Carville: it’s the economy, stupid. Focus on that, and the damage Republicans are doing to our savings accounts, and just remain mum on the hot button stuff. |
Except for the fact it’s the Republicans who continually bring up the other stuff and lie when confronted about real issues. |
So you’ve proved my point that the headline alone is sensational and doesn’t tell the full story. The details like the one I bulleted are really important and why the original question of “Does 94% seem high to you?” meant to align with the idea about DEI breeding discrimination are not valid. |
We ARE remaining mum. It’s Republicans who won’t shut up about our trans folk policies! |
