Wapo has gone down hill so quickly. Each day there are typos and misinformation in it. I read it less and less. NYT is my next newspaper subscription.

I was weak and gave in to their offer for a $2/month subscription for the next year. Feel kind of guilty, but hopefully $24 in a year doesn't contribute too much to the Bezos empire. I've never had Amazon prime, so at least there's that.

Exactly. We just cancelled our subscription when it runs out, have been a subscriber for decades. It's too expensive for what they are providing at this point, even though I appreciate the daily color comics. It's pretty sad when the comics are the highlight.

Politics aside, I think most people would expect to be fired if they openly and publicly disrespected their boss. So I’d say the outcome was actually very favorable given the circumstances.

This isn't any random employer. This is a media outlet with particular ethics around conflict of interest and bias. Any WaPo story you read about Amazon will note that Bezos owns WaPo for this reason. You can't do good journalism if you have to maintain deference to the rich people you work for. So they're not anymore.

Cancelling subscriptions doesn't hurt bezos at all. This was just a rich boy flex/vanity purchase. It does hurt local journalist who are barely getting by. I personally know several. We need the post, flaws and all, because it is still one of the best papers in the country, especially for long form and series writing. Plus they still offer some legit local coverage of events. So by all means, cancel away but you are just putting journalist out of work and killing another paper.

+1,000. My parents live in a part of the country where there is no independent newspaper. Everyone gets their news from Fox and/or social media. It's freaking scary.

Reading the newspaper is the cheapest form of adult education that anyone has ever invented, and the Post is still, even today, one of the great newspapers in the entire world.
