| Who knew "Democracy Dies in Darkness" was aspirational for the WP? |
| Wapo has gone down hill so quickly. Each day there are typos and misinformation in it. I read it less and less. NYT is my next newspaper subscription. |
Damn you, Poe's Law. |
| I was weak and gave in to their offer for a $2/month subscription for the next year. Feel kind of guilty, but hopefully $24 in a year doesn't contribute too much to the Bezos empire. I've never had Amazon prime, so at least there's that. |
Exactly. We just cancelled our subscription when it runs out, have been a subscriber for decades. It's too expensive for what they are providing at this point, even though I appreciate the daily color comics. It's pretty sad when the comics are the highlight. |
Killing the comic is a perfect example of the "Streisand Effect."https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect |
| But now who will tell me what to think? |
You can keep watching Fox and OAN. |
| Cancelling subscriptions doesn't hurt bezos at all. This was just a rich boy flex/vanity purchase. It does hurt local journalist who are barely getting by. I personally know several. We need the post, flaws and all, because it is still one of the best papers in the country, especially for long form and series writing. Plus they still offer some legit local coverage of events. So by all means, cancel away but you are just putting journalist out of work and killing another paper. |
+1,000. My parents live in a part of the country where there is no independent newspaper. Everyone gets their news from Fox and/or social media. It's freaking scary. |
those journalists are voluntarily leaving en masse. because integrity |
|
If you canceled your subscription to protest something Bezos did, you are 100 percent a moron. All you've done is contribute to the decline in coverage of your community and your government.
Enjoy your stupid, weird blogs, I guess. |
Reading the newspaper is the cheapest form of adult education that anyone has ever invented, and the Post is still, even today, one of the great newspapers in the entire world. |
Keep calling your political opponents Nazis if you never want to be in a position of authority again. |

Facebook is stopping fact checking in the name of "free speech."
Such ignorance or mendacity. |
