Wow. I stayed with the post so far but this is too much. I'm cancelling my subscription. What other papers to support? Anything local?

Who cares about a newspaper's opinion about anything? I read them for news, not to be told what to think, or how I should interpret facts presented elsewhere in the publication.

People with critical analysis skills should look at opinion pieces as entertainment, or perhaps as food for thought, but never as gospel.

I almost never read opinion pieces, because like you, I'm there for news and don't care.

But this does not bode well for anything else at the paper. It's sad.

Newspapers like the WSJ and the NYT censor opinion editors all the time. What are you talking about? They wouldn’t let a Communist opine on the WSJ editorial page. At least Bezos is transparent about his censoring of the opinion page. In other places opinion writers know what they can’t say but the owners / editors aren’t as explicit about saying what isn’t allowed.
