| Who cancelled their WaPo subscription? |
|
Just did. Thanks for the reminder.
Of all the elections, this was not the one for this decision. Eff you Bezos. |
| Thinking about canceling Amazon Prime instead. The post staff "broke" the story about who shut down the endorsement, hate to punish them. |
| What the f is going on in this world???!! |
| Me |
| The billionaires are killing democracy. Same thing happened with the LA Times. |
| I am worried. |
|
I’ve never understood why news organizations endorse candidates.
Has WaPo ever endorsed a republican for president in its entire history? |
|
Cancelling WaPo won’t hurt Bezos. I’m not cancelling.
|
Sure. They can decide to stop endorsing candidates. But choosing to stop at this particular point in time rather than a year ago or a year later? Tells me Bezos is worries about retaliation from Trumpy Trump. Coward. Eff him. I canceled my subscription. |
| Same. Ditto Amazon |
| I don’t think news organizations should endorse any politician. Shouldn’t the news agencies remain unbiased? |
Sure. But to make this decision after the editorial was written in the 11th hour and when Bezos' business associates had recently met with Trump? No this decision was certainly NOT made based on ethics whatsoever. |
| Government employees get the online subscription for free. But I'd cancel if I were paying. |
|
The Post was already losing hundreds of millions of dollars. Being a liberal darling ended up being really bad for the paper financially.
I’m sure Bezos wouldn’t mind losing the MSNBC crowd as a core subscriber base, along with any journalist who would quit in protest. The fact that so many journalists that are obviously ideologically committed left wing liberals have not quit says everything there is to know. |
