To avoid being primaried in the mid-terms by someone “more MAGA”. It’s a cult of personality. Whatever Trump says must be obeyed. It has nothing to do with policy.

Maybe so. But I’m skeptical that Trump’s message of austerity will actually be all that attractive as people experience it. We’ve had federal dollars and free trade pumping through MAGA heartland for about 60 years now. MAGA will miss it as the effect of Trump’s policies spread. We’ll see.

I was checking Fox News and Reddit/conservative. There is NOTHING about tariffs. The issue is on full black out. No mention of the economy, tariffs, stock market, CEO concerns, predictions of recession, consumer surveys, etc. Full black out.

That’s not true. Google. Here’s one with a poll reflecting that 53% think the 25% tariffs will hurt. Navarro says there will be “short term pain which Trump also says”. It’s buried at the end of the fantasy but it’s there. And the poll would indicate even Fox viewers know that people are not psyched.

They actually did mention the economy for the first time since January 20 today. There was a link to a Fox Business piece on how tariffs could hurt the economy, according to economists. The piece still concluded that it’s necessary.
