Trump tariffs: ruin U.S. economy until 2040

Thrifting can really help stretch the budget. There’s nothing I can do about the food except continue to trim discretionary items, but getting gently used hoodies at the thrift store for my teen is helpful!

Canned goods like tuna, salmon, fruit and veg will probably go up but they are still cheaper way to eat and healthy options!

Those savings are going to be overwhelmed by the increase in your new HVAC system (which no longer has efficiency tax credits by the way) or any other plumbing or electrical, etc. repairs to your house or the next car you buy. Thrifting is not going to be the big save that you think it is. But if it makes you feel better to thrift, go ahead. I know a lot of people who just don't have the time to thrift because they are working more than one job (and thrifting requires you to hunt around and hope that you find something useful). Yay.

Have fun replacing your cell phone or computer at the thrift store. Also any appliances that go kaput (you know like washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, etc.).

Its actually mid-single digits. But don’t let the facts get in the way of your lies.

Proctor and Gamble is announcing reduced profits and layoffs now.

Another lie, profits increased to 1.48 for Q4 verses 1.42 for last year. Got any more lies you want to float about P&G ?

I’m not a Trump fan but it is what it is. I thought a positive tip might be useful.

How are Q4 numbers at all relevant in a discussion about tariffs?

Positive tip: Contact your congressmen and voice your concern about tariffs. Also vote for sane people in the next election.

Here's to the poster who reported Q4 profits at P&G. This is more current:

NP here. P&G reported the slowest growth in sales in 7years; will raise prices by 25% due to tariffs; and, will cut jobs in the coming year. Did you actually listen to the earnings call before posting PP.

Have you ever lived in a third world country (which is where we are headed now). Here's what happens when many people buy second hand in thrift stores: prices go up for those gently used items the same way prices go up in any supply-demand situation. People who have live on islands where it's hard to get products also experience this. Ask me how I know.

Just trying to help people think critically about this. For example a positive tip would be to buy a new HVAC system now if your system is on its last legs. The tax credit is good until the end of this year.
