Pick almost any marginalized group in the US and the statement will be true. But to give specific examples: Native Americans. Women, particularly POC women and women in poverty. Black Americans. The rates of violence against those groups far, far exceed anything experienced by the trans community.

The violence against trans people in the US is dwarfed in both proportion and actual amount by violence against other marginalized groups, yet those groups don’t scream “genocide” the minute they encounter mild disagreement.

Pick almost any marginalized group in the US and the statement will be true. But to give specific examples: Native Americans. Women, particularly POC women and women in poverty. Black Americans. The rates of violence against those groups far, far exceed anything experienced by the trans community.
why are we pitting these groups against one another? Like, shouldn't we be bothered by the violence against all of them? I know I am.
It isn't an either/or thing. This post is specifically about the trans community, but that doesn't mean most of us advocating for trans rights do it at the expense of the other groups.

They are the first ones to call people transphobes, bigots, fascists, and Nazis, for disagreeing with their ideology. They are the first ones to get violent and loud at events where women with contrary viewpoints speak.
Trans people existed way before the current spate of woke trans activists showed up on the scene. They were tolerated then. What's different now? Demanding that people affirm their identity and not misgender or dead name them goes way beyond tolerance. Asserting a right to access and occupy women's spaces goes way beyond tolerance.

It is entirely true. The only way your original statement even approaches reality is if you take the position that domestic violence doesn’t count as violence. Is that your position?
The reality is that trans Americans are a safer population than many, many other marginalized groups in the US.

Suicide is self-harm.
of course I know there is a lot of violence against women and children. I stand up against that, too.
Yes, suicide is self-harm - but you have to admit that some of the internal hurt comes from bullying and now just straight up laws against existing as a trans person
Less guns and way more funding for mental health would go a long way, but don't ever ask a Republican to fund any of that.

I don’t think a lot of trans activists think at all about the safety of women or women’s rights, no. Some do but many don’t.
