Age to leave child alone sleeping in hotel room to go downstairs?

I’m actually impressed that the troll has been able to keep this going for so long.

This was a dark horse of a thread! But was OP a troll? Thats some pretty impressive trolling if so.

Like I said previously in this thread, if you have a kid who is a good sleeper and you have a wifi Ring camera - you can go down to the lobby for a drink, to read a book in peace, or just enjoy the outdoor patio on a warm evening.

It will literally take you 60 seconds to get back to the room if they start crying or get up. No big deal.

No not OP, unless they’re sick purporting, the one who insisted for 22 pages that children and teens can never ever be in a hotel room by themselves without an adult present.

Such a weird and boring thing to troll about too. Can’t she go fabricate a thread about a mean MIL or DIL? Those are more fun.

It’s sucks because as my kids get older these are actual questions I have and would be interested in hearing actual responses about. But it’s just 20 pages of troll . I guess I could report it, but, eh

Would your 15 year old be comfortable with people having access to their room while they are alone?

Yeah this is why I leave my 11 year old alone at home but wouldn’t leave my 15 year old alone at a hotel.

I started leaving my son when he was maybe 10. I would put a do not disturb sign on the door.
Who needs my kid?!!!! I showed him the fire exits but otherwise I wasn’t concerned about anything.
I even did that abroad. He had a phone of course.

I did this with a 10 yr old in Destin a few years ago. Believe it or not he survived, no one broke into the room, he didn’t disappear and he wasn’t kidnapped. The drink in the lobby bar was glorious.

The general consensus (troll aside) seemed to be in the 10-14 range depending on parent, kid, and possibly situational factors.

Your capacity for risk analysis is flawed. You are ridiculous.

^Yes! I think it made us sane (when compared to others in this thread).

Home alone in a familiar neighborhood isn’t the same as in a hotel room alone in a town or city you’ve never been to before.

Sure, but the coping skills are the same.

How? In your neighborhood you know where to run to or where you can hide out. In a new town how would you know? Would you even know if your hotel was known for trafficking or having a rogue maintenance man?

Locally we know for example how Red Roof Inns roll on Richmond Hwy. We know where not to stay. In a new environment, would you really?

Omg. You are severely mentally ill. Please seek help.
