Lol, why would this annoy you? Tons of Indians call each other by these pet names/nicknames.

Because it wasn’t part of English society. The whole Indian angle was stupid.

Well Indians who were past or English society during the English colonial era probably didn’t completely abandon all traces of their Indian heritage when they lived in England.

How many Indians actually moved in the upper circles of English aristocracy?

Among many plot holes- the scene where the Sharmas and Bridgertons all do a "country dance" at the ball when they were waiting on folks to show up--
Lady Danbury is straight up dancing a jig, turning circles and skipping WITHOUT her cane. Then music ends and she is hobbling on the cane again. I think she way overacts that part anyhow....

this season is so completely different from the second book that I would encourage reading the book for a different story

More than zero.

I did laugh at that one.

I agree she is overacting in this season, but I love her anyway! She is one of the best characters in the whole show.

My two favorite characters by far are the Queen and Lady Danbury (even with her overacting this season).

I like Penelope a lot, I just wish she didn't act so child-like.

I did like the turn the Featherington plot line took with Portia and the new guy plotting together. That was fun.

I just wish the romance had been better with the main characters.

Exactly. Many hold onto their culture for 100s of years despite displacement.

I have a close friend who is South African of Indian origin. The Indian population in SA is the largest in the world outside of India. She told me that Netflix had a special event to launch this season of Bridgerton in SA but didn’t invite a single South Asian person to the South African event.
So tone deaf.

From that, it seems like almost zero. The examples by name were not actually members of the aristocracy

They had a quick scene where she takes her cane back from a footman and they exchange a look. It worked for me, I thought it was cute and funny enough.

I enjoyed seeing the Bridgerton family rib each other during the Pall Mall game.

There’s a difference between moving in upper circles and actually being a member, but if you really want to know, there are records and you can just research it. But I do find it odd that you think that of all things that aren’t realistic in the show, the main characters keeping a few parts of their heritage is what really gets you. For me it was the semi-public sex.

Same! It reminded me of my husbands family. It’s like you know they really love each other if they can be so competitive in those games but not be actually angry afterward. I love it.

To me this is the best scene in all the books.
