The point you're trying to make is that 1.7% dead children won't litter the streets with bodies, so it's not a big deal?

You're a scary mommy.

Any pediatric death is a tragedy. But when comparing to the rate of suicide a in the same report, you should really ask a question “ Did I contribute to the suicide in children by demanding that schools close last year? Am I complicit in causing pain to these children? “ The truth is their suicides are on your conscience.

How silly it is to attack wearing masks!!! We all know that kids wearing masks were the only source of covid-related or suicide deaths in the U.S., right????

Did you cause pain??? Did you contribute to suicide??? How ridiculous - absolutely not! You just like to watch! Right?

Another child just died in Virginia.

What an asinine assertion - that masking to protect against covid led to higher teen suicides.

Unmasking would just make it more likely a child catches covid, so if they were that suicidal from just wearing a mask - how much more suicidal woul a kid be if they caught covid? Or caught it more than once?

Carefully read this post:

Again you see the person making a link between masking and temporary virtual learning with "closing schools".

This is how you pick out the people who are trying to do harm to our children.

Great! Glad you agree. Let’s start there. Masks optional for all kids 6 and under in Montgomery County. That would be a HUGE improvement from what we have now.

Labelling covid exposure to a 100% unvaccinated population, knowing that covid has more negative affects to an unvaccinated populations, is a "HUGE improvement"?

Here we see an example of trying to infect the unvaccinated population to cause as much damage to children as possible.

There were 5 kids between the ages 0-9 who died of COVID in the last two years. A total of 16 kids currently hospitalized in the entire state of Maryland. What negative impact are you talking about?

One thing I'd caution "both sides" to be cautious of is the data around vaccination rates when it comes to kids. Early in the pandemic, you saw big gaps between vaccination rates in zip codes, reflecting access and the difficulty of getting vaccines at the beginning. Then, over time, those rates evened out and MoCo became a "highly vaccinated" area due to the increased availability of the vaccine but also tremendous efforts to get the vaccine to some of the most marginalized residents of our county.

But that gap is opening again, and it appears to be due to wildly different rates of vaccination for kids. Despite outreach and easy availability, there are specific communities that are not getting their kids vaccinated. Without a vaccine mandate in MCPS, there's no way of tracking the numbers but anecdotally, I'd guess my kids' ES is less than 25 percent vaccinated despite every kid being eligible.

As a result, I think we need to be careful because a bunch of unmaked unvaccinated kids would be bad for everyone, including vaccinated adults.

Hmmmm… let’s pause here -

What do you think is happening in the 40+ states that don’t mask kids and have very low vax rates?

Or in other countries where they have no restrictions? What about in Denmark? Norway? Sweden? England?

Are the streets in those places full of dead kids? Do those parents not love their children? Are the doctors in those places dumber than the ones here? You really need to think about this. What is happening in wealthy blue pockets of urban America is shady.

This is the elephant in the room. If you carefully examine the school covid reports, the schools that didn't go outside for lunch or strictly enforced masking in groups seem to be the ones that got clobbered. The schools that did the best were the ones strongly enforcing mask wearing and split up the student body at lunch (outside if possible). If we have another long run of bad weather and kids are eating indoors again, I'd expect another infection spike at school.

Source? Or wishful thinking?

It is pure theater.

think we found MeNtALmAmA's post. Remember, the Trevor Noah show will never forget your unhinged ramblings. Being proud you did nothing to change your life and your whole family got COVID but survived also isnt the flex you think it is. It's terrifying you provide mental health care to children.

Your shift key's acting up again.

We have been lucky. Lets talk about in the US and around the world. Another child just died in Virginia.

As long as covid surges are causing hospitals to ration care, I'm for erring on the side of overprotection.

How many kids lost their parents, family members, friends and loved ones to covid in the past two years? How many of those who died, did so because their children gave them covid? You don't think trauma would be losing a parent or two to covid because you brought it home from school?

Mark. my. words.

There is a 0% chance mcps kids will be in masks this spring. The ball is already rolling. The state had meetings last week. MoCo county council is aware that this is coming.

Buckle up, covid lovers.
