That’s why many 7th, 8th and 9th graders at many different schools are testing positive. We need to get boosters to the 12 to 15 group ASAP.
People with boosters are testing positive too.
I’m in a hotspot (not DC) and every adult I know who has been positive over the past couple weeks is boosted. That being said, with the exception of one friend who has health risk factors, they were all very mild cases.
But how many people do you know who aren't boosted? In my experience (supported by research for the anti-anecdote folks), people tend to cluster with others who share their values. So people who are vaccinated and boosted tend to mostly (though of course not exclusively) hang out with others who share their views on Covid vaccines. If 95% of your acquaintances are boosted, of course the people you know who are getting Covid are people who are boosted - those are the people you know. It doesn't mean that people who are boosted are getting Covid at the same or higher rates as those who are unvaccinated or unboosted.
What it means is that 7th, 8th and 9th grades are going to be affected in an omicron outbreak regardless of booster status, since we are seeing such an outburst of positives in both vaxxed and boosted populations with this strain.
