Biden's VP?

Link? And will they like her when her dirt hits the fan. She didn’t make it far enough in the Presidential campaign for that to come out.

Yes, another thing puzzling to me about Harris is the claim she was fully vetted during her presidential campaign. No she wasn't. She never addressed her AG record, and there are a lot of problems there.

Who would this be?

Garlin Gilchrist. A 37-year old from the Detroit metro. I just read up on his bio and it is pretty interesting. His resume includes engineer at Microsoft, Campaign director at Moveon.org and Community Change, Chief Information Officer of the City of Detroit, and a researcher at UMich.

I actually went to college with Garlin. He is brilliant and insanely tall. Garlin Gilchrist is a name we will be hearing a lot in the next couple years (and rightfully so!)

Perhaps it would bring out the AA vote in Michigan if Whitmer got the VP nod and then Michigan would have the first black Governor of the state. It seems like a win-win in Michigan- a state Biden needs.

Interesting, this make sense. She’s been at the forefront of governors on race issues and seems like she’d be a good coalition pick. Lots of chatter about her now, starting to think she is the one.

Fingers crossed, I would be totally fine with this pick. I wonder if she simply dropped off the radar for a while due to the shutdown backlash. But the tide seems to have turned on that.

Chatter all along has been Biden doesn't approve of open campaigning. I think from the beginning Whitmer did not really think she'd be the pick either. And, yes, she's definitely been busy.

That must be why Abrams wasn’t a serious contender. I’m fine with that because IMO she doesn’t have enough experience, but man did she seem thirsty.

Nothing new. This has been the news for the last 2 weeks.

Biden really backed himself into a corner all but promising to pick an African American woman as VP. I don't think that many Democratic rank and file care about either the sex or race of the VP...it's mainly activists/politicos who care.

Biden unnecessarily limited his choices. Going with a governor would have been much better.

Biden never promised an African American woman as VP. He promised a woman as VP. Several of those he rumored to have been vetted are AA. He did state he would put a black woman on the SC.

Elizabeth Warren is a woman of color. Conceivably, Harris could be AG. I read the notes as rationalizing why he didn’t select Harris. It’s down to Rice, Harris, Warren and Whitmer, I think.

No, she is not even though I think the faux outrage over her claiming to be Native American is stupid political posturing.

My issue with Warren as VP is that I think Warren is bigger than VP. I think Warren should be the Senate Majority leader or in a big Cabinet position. Maybe she goes on to run for President again, but maybe not. In four years, she'll be 75. She's too old to be ancient Biden's VP. When Biden leaves office I hope everyone 75 and above is swept out as well.

Is it one person stanning Susan Rice or multiple? Rice is a disastrous pick.

Warren will alienate moderate Republicans who might not vote at all or vote for Biden. Wall Street hates her and the last thing we need is for house wives in Texas to not vote for Biden because they are afraid a far left radical like Warren will take over the Presidency and turn the country into a socialist state. Is she capable? Definitely but she detracts from a win come November.

Did you hear me, Biden? WHITMER!

Please not Susan Rice. Please.

I'm very much coming around to the idea of Whitmer. This is blatantly opportunistic, but there will be a lot of media frenzy to "get to know" Gretchen Whitmer, whereas Harris is already known. The midwestern thing could really work for her in continuing to pull suburban women away from the GOP. Whitmer doesn't even have to go out and go on the attack against Trump. Let him take the bait on that and watch it backfire.

A lot of the Obama faithful will love rice. She’s better than both warren and Kamala, probably net worse than duckworth.

+1000. And being totally cynical, I think the Texas housewives may see some of themselves in a Gretchen Whitmer and won't like the attacks against her.

No one needs to convince the Obama faithful to vote for Obama's VP.

How does Rice poll with Midwestern suburban women who are the swing voters for 2020?

I think she’d do fantastically well, given her credentials and career success. Fact is, though, suburban white women are going big time for Biden regardless of his nominee. And why, you ask? Safety and security. They rightly see him as offering a reason-based alternative pandemic plan and as being able to work nicely toward reasonable compromises. So it really doesn’t matter who the vp is because we’re takin if epic landslide here.

Kamala’s pro-Israel stance is not aligned with most Democrats. She also rebuked Obama’s criticism of Israeli settlement practices.

Will this alienate some otherwise likely voters?

She looks like a housewife to you? Not clear what you’re saying here.
