welathy people often keep most of their "cash" in fairly liquid investments at a brokerage firm, that could take a business day or more to transfer to a bank account. Im not sure how easy even when it is at the bank to get 40k in cash. Certainly not a "right this minute" ask.

PP here. I happen to disagree, based on what I know. Except you are correct in saying money is not available same day, that is for sure!

So what type of work would the Secret Service be doing in this case? Cathy Lanier mentioned that they are working round the clock assisting the investigation.

I was so upset by what had happened and felt like I needed to talk through what might have happened (I know that's a classic of feeling like it's a way to assert control over things). This was a socially acceptable way to do that. This was also an excellent information aggregation site.

However, it has really devolved. The combination of racism, classism (re: the reaction of housekeeper NG), and attacks by name on the woman who gave the interview are just too much. This is probably good for me -- I've been spending too much time reading through this thread.

Thanks to all those who were posting trying to make sense of it. I sensed a lot of care and concern and grief in so many of the posts. Thoughts and prayers for the two families (S and F).

Thoughts and prayers are with the two families. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning, as the trial is going to be drawn out. Maybe the perp will see retribution behind bars, as some PPs have alluded.

Secret service is heavy in that area. They are probably checking cams and such

I do too. He must have had--if not others who participated in the murders and the rest of the ordeal--at least someone who knew he was going to do this/someone who provided transportation to the home or information about the family or something. The motive other than $$ could be revenge/anger at having been fired/having a relative who was fired or perhaps he committed this crime simply because he is a seriously deranged and sick person, a psychopath even...it certainly sounds that way.

To your other question about only 40K being delivered, maybe that's the most cash that S could get at one time without raising suspicion.
or maybe that's just the most cash SS could get at one time period. It's not really easy or even maybe possible to access that much cash in only a few hours' time.

They've said repeatedly she is NOT in trouble.

A psychopath couldn't care less about his latest girlfriend. Do you really think he would give himself up for her?

Never.

Then again if she's harboring a fugitive...

+1

Agree. I don't think most every day people realize this, or have any reason to know this.

I bet it was a business account at AIW and that's what was in the account. Most people don't have big bucks sitting in the bank...you make ur money work for you and invest it a lot of the time

He's not coming back to save her. That's not gonna happen.

When push comes to shove, girlfriend is lost in the dust. I do think despite the seemingly non supoort, he cares about his kids, family and friends. Maybe I am crazy. I think it is all he left. And, he will try. Not defending him. He just needs to turn himself in.

I know banks file a report anytime >5 or 10k is deposited, but not sure about taking out 40k. I would imagine that definitely hits that criteria, but I dont think they call the cops right away. Its just something they make note of for regulation purposes

This is a thread about a tragedy that occurred, no? So if friends of the deceased family are upset that people or a person is speaking about the tragedy to the media, then I think they have a right to express that on this thread, as unfortunately it has now become part of the story. I don't want to bash anyone and definitely was not one of the people bashing the housekeeper. I am aware though that the family had asked for their friends not to speak to the media so I can understand how having private things your mother said aired on TV (even if they were nice things) could feel like a betrayal and feel upsetting.
