The ECNL event in Phoenix included ALL clubs from the west coast and all over the nation.

The GA North Carolina event had teams from around the nation but the top clubs from each regional league played in Champions Cup in Florida last month + didn't attend.

Not all of the top ECNL clubs attended Phoenix. Small number. DD’s team didn’t go. I need a new ECNL hat!

I'm thinking about printing up a bunch of ECNL hats and selling them outside the next ECNL event. I bet I could make a grand in a day.

definitely! with triple the amount of attendance at ECNL events, you would definitely have more customers to buy

no reason for coaches to go to GA tournaments. if they do, they usually send assistants. Champions Cup and Playoffs are the only place college coaches should go to and it shows. everything else is just a waste of their time.

My kid played at champions cup and the rumor going around was that recruiters were impressed by what they saw and were planning to attend more GA events. But maybe they always say that kind of thing.

You obviously have an agenda but what's the difference if recruiters go to an ECNL event but only watch/scout the top teams. Or if recruiters go to a GA event with only the top clubs playing? It's the same thing!

I'll take things that didn't happen for $100. GA tournaments are not good. period. hat is why there is low turnout and the GA only has 3 tournaments and the summer tournament doesn't even invite the oldest age group. CAUSE coaches don't come. 20 top teams is all they go watch for recruiting seriously. it's that simple. stop sugar coating it. the December tournament, ga's biggest tournament will start getting less and less coaches.

Why would GA put resources into the oldest age group? If you're not engaged with a recruiter by that time it's not going to happen.

I also like how you use leading words and innuendo to be negative about GA. The truth is that attendance players, coaches, scouts, etc has increased every year since GA was founded.

Look at the clubs going, GA NC is missing every top 2-3 clubs from every conference since most of them were in California and Florida already. ECNLs list would look the same if you had mostly none playoff level clubs going. Or do you think a showcase headlining playing levels like MF, White, and South would have a major draw?

Idiots saying colleges ONLY look at the top 20 clubs....who believes that? If that were true then no one would go and no one from any other club would be recruited. D has played in the Champions Cup loser bracket when her team was invited. 30 plus coaches at each game. Some not top D1s but still some good schools. Even so, there are over 1000 NCAA womens programs, 360ish just in D1. They can't all recruit from the same 20 teams.

For the 19s, most aren't in 11th, they are in 12th and just graduated. Aside from a last shot at a national title why would anyone spend the money to go to CA again?

ECNL had to promote this year and try to bring in more RL teams. With a war of attrition the league who holds the most mid to upper level clubs will win in the end. ECNL had a monopoly as the only place but has lost 30-40% of their placements over the last 6 years. In the next 5 I'd bet on ECNL merging with GA under NWSLnext. I won't be around though, so have fun with that.
