Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Probably not enough on School Board that would take action against Reid- I mean they included look what she’s done for sports! as a reason to renew contract early. Hope the 3 that voted for investigation are vocal and that coaches can share what they know.

She started middle school sports. That's good.

But this, while not her direct doing, happened on her watch and she has facilitated it. And is continuing to facilitate it.

An out of the way family trip for this? Oy.

Many FCPS HS athletes are very invested in this story and were shocked and disappointed hat the school system backed the cheaters. The kids put in a ton of time into their sports and respect the game and the rules.

We live in one of the most fascinating areas on earth with tourists eager to see all that the DMV offers. And you choose to road trip to…a high school football game in a far, uninteresting part of Fairfax Cnty at an unaffiliated school. Likely so that you can boo some kids you don’t know as a family. Stay home, have some cocoa with the kids, and watch a movie instead.

Do you know any high school boys? LOL.

Do you? Do you think your “son and his friends” just want to drive far away to an unaffiliated school to just cheer on Edison and not boo and provoke Hayfield? Do better.

Personally, if it were my kids I think that would be a fine way for FCPS student athletes to express their disdain and disgust for FCPS's support of cheating.

That would be poor sportsmanship. It’s also poor sportsmanship to accuse someone of cheating

VHSL found Hayfield guilty of cheating so its not an accusation at this point: its a statement of fact.

Hint, hint.

Again, an adult scheming ways of picking on kids and not appropriately handling this via adult routes. What is wrong with you?

The chanting is directed at the coaches.

And will the kids understand this as the crowd boos?

This is high school football, not a political protest. A hearing is coming up. FCPS will be revising rules. School board elections will come. You are an adult - show your voice using adult routes. Calm down and control your emotions. Grow up. Leave kids out of your drama.

+100

Maga with pitchforks and Tiki torches are welcome.

Are you seriously that stupid.

Your hysteria over high school football is unhooding the clan.

Exactly! You may have valid points, but they are being drained by some very unstable people.

Disgusting people like you attempt to play the race card when the cheating problem is obvious to anyone paying attention and with a couple of brain cells.

Pointing out racial dog whistles doesn’t mean that we can't also discuss the alleged cheating.

The only one using racial dog whistles are you pro Hatfield cheaters.

There's going to be so much booing and heckling at this game.

100 points will be rung up tonight.

A running clock and idling opponent can't stop, won't stop us.

Would be an accomplishment *if* your team was honest and respected. Instead you are a joke. NO ONE is impressed but you.

Its lucky for Hayfield that they are playing a low income school that has very low turnout for away games.

I hope hayfield loses the court cases and the robinson kids sue FCPS for the same damages that they hayfield kids sought. I'm also waiting for the foia requests to start getting fulfilled, although best case would be denying the request and the state AG stepping in to personally go after Reid because attacking school boards is easy political points for a republican ag

meh. "middle school sports" is just running at our school. doesn't interest most kids. If it was a real middle school sports program: basketball, soccer, etc. then I would be impressed.

A bunch of high school boys set out to boo and intimidate kids from another school at a game that already is filled with heated emotions. What could go wrong?

This is what FCPS wanted, right? Sporting events with no rules, integrity or sportsmanship.

Yes, this is what Reid herself prefers. Any trouble at the game is 100% on her.

Absolutely! Teen boys booing and being aggressive at a school they have no affiliation with is totally fine and understandable. And this should absolutely be encouraged by their parents. And if anything bad happens at least it was for a really meaningful and significant reason - high school football player team membership rules. All part of Reid’s plan. 100% on Reid. 😂

Um, even I, a random mom, know enough about football that a running clock and indefinite delay of game penalties most certainly can stop you from playing much.

Certainly! Agree! This is what FCPS wants and supports. Complete lawlessness, lack of decorum, lack of dignity, lack of respect for rules and common sense, etc.

The one thing we know for sure is that the underqualified head of Hayfield School Security won't be doing his job at the game.

Hayfield is a joke and a disgrace at this point. No matter what they win there will always be an asterisk next to it.

Looks like Fritts is out. Fairfax times reporting he will leave for his wife’s overseas job or something.

That’s one! Two to go! Though don’t be surprised if Fritts ends up being the fall guy and the other two go nowhere.

I still think Overton resigns after the games honestly. Principal may end up staying on. Who knows. We’re 200+ pages deep on this thread so there’s that!

Actually I guess three to go for the thread but she just got a new contract so she’s not going anywhere.

While I don't support booing the Hayfield kids, to be fair.....Reid literally sent out an email saying she didn't care about VHSL's sportsmanship rules.

Nobody cares about the score. Go for it.
Embarass Reid even more.

The monthly installment of her $400k annual salary already cleared. She doesn't care.

Wonder if she goes to Hayfields games. Won’t be surprised if she attends the Championship if Hayfield makes it.
