I am a lucky recepient of a $1,000 gift card to Nordstrom and am thinking of getting a very nice work bag, the kind of thing I wouldn't normally spend more than $400 on. Any suggestions?

I'd buy a $100 bag from Banana Republic or J.Crew or something, and donate or invest the rest. There's no proof that paying more necessarily means better quality. It's just a waste of cash.

Agreed with 10:54 if you care going to spend it all on one bag.

Although I personally would get a new Michael Kors watch, new boots for fall and new purse. Its NAS time right now so you could get all three on sale.

Yes, she has a gift card. But she has determined to blow the entire $1000 on a single item, which is a waste. I would buy at least 20 items.

There's no way I would EVER spend that much on a purse. If I had that card, I'd spend maybe $300 on a new purse, and then buy other stuff too.
