Why? He said he knew of her. He didn't outright say he didn't know her.

She implied Leland either had a drug addiction or was mentally unwell, with her cryptic statement. That was ug-ly!

I really can't believe that anyone who saw his behavior to Congress today would want him confirmed. He acted like a badly spoiled child.

This. Leland knows this was all made up. She said under oath she never met BK. Ford figured her friend would lie for her.

No. Leland said no such thing. She says she does not remember the party. Stop lying. Stop it.

"Where Christine Blasey Ford was calm and dignified, Brett Kavanaugh was volatile and belligerent; where she was eager to respond fully to every questioner, and kept worrying whether she was being “helpful” enough, he was openly contemptuous of several senators; most important, where she was credible and unshakable at every point in her testimony, he was at some points evasive, and some of his answers strained credulity."

- NYT Editorial. Biased source you might say, but in this instance, I completely agree with them.

BREAKING: Ford's polygraph expert has been a subcontractor of the Democrat law firm representing Ford in DC. Hanafin's a "progressive" from Boston who says that when administering polygraphs on "victims" like Ford u automatically "believe them" & don't ask them specific questions

What a surprise. I'm shocked!

Are you as shocked that Bretty’s refusing to take one at all? Coward!

The hearing went pretty much as Grassley scripted it. He designed it to be a “he said -she said” with no other evidence or witnesses allowed.

The most surprising thing was Kavanaugh’s poor comportment. He doesn’t seem to have the temperament to handle contentious issues like the court may face. He was also by far the most political, least respectful nominee ever. There are no good outcomes going forward. Perhaps the best is if he goes down in committee. .

I think he'll be confirmed. 54% of Republicans think he should be confirmed even if the allegations are true. They think it's a youthful indiscretion and a "good" man shouldn't be denied the opportunity to be on the supreme court.

What disgusts me the most about this is how much he seems to believe that he is owed this. That he deserves to sit on the supreme court. The entitlement of this man is just sickening.

People are denied jobs at mcDonald's over a Facebook post. This dude gets to sit on the highest court in the land?

Just stop.
He was nominated and accepted the nomination. And, then, the crazies came out of the woodwork.
His reputation has been destroyed. He DESERVES to be heard and to clear his name of these ugly allegations.

Agreed. And the idiot Senator Whitehouse, delving into Kavanaugh's yearbook?? Asking him to explain all the stupid inside jokes from high school? That was a real low point. If I had been Kavanaugh, I would have declined to entertain such an absurd line of questioning.

All those jokes about drinking and sex, from a yearbook during the same time period as an assault? That's kind of relevant.

And it's even more relevant since he lied about the meaning of all those "jokes." He lied easily and often. I'm sure he lied about other stuff too.

How do you know he lied about the meaning of the jokes?

Brett's Little Lies

1. When he and his buddies described themselves as "Renate alumni" it was just to express their admiration for her.
2. "Devil's Triangle" is a drinking game
3. "Beach Week Ralph Club -- Biggest Contributor" - he ralphed because of spicy food & his sensitive stomach
4. "have you boofed yet?" referred to flatulance

One thousand percent.

He came in basically saying, "I deserve this appointment and waa waa you're trying to take it away from me." Petulant and entitled.

I believe there are several trolls on here. Jeff outed one, who likes to portray herself as a liberal lawyer, yet who usually uses that opening to attack Democrats at every turn.

He was a buffoon today.

Not in my book. He said what needed to be said, and I'm glad he looked directly to his left at the two who most needed to hear it.

He looked INSANE. I am in shock that that is a person who is supposed to be a leader in this country. Clearly cannot handle stressful situations very well. Not a good look.

Ridiculous. His buddies were probably all laughing as they watched this. Makes ME want to vomit. I guess too much spicy food and a sensitive stomach.

NO! He is sick of what has been done to a good man. Sickening.

GTFOH. After this display? At best he is temperamentally unfit to be a SCJ; at worst he is a sexual predator.

DP. This "display"? You mean a man finally breaking after being falsely accused of a sexual attack? I don't know how he's been able to hold it together at all for the past ten days - I would have been a complete mess. He's understandably completely emotionally spent and on the verge of tears, especially when speaking of his family and friends.

I am truly repulsed by those of you criticizing his appearance today. Honestly, after watching his testimony, I'm more certain than ever that he is innocent.

Liberal here.

I think his testimony was good enough for his successful confirmation. I would cry and be angry too under similar circumstances. They are equally credible, and I believe in innocent until proven guilty." so he wins.

No he was not credible. He avoided answering basic, yes or no questions with rambling narratives about how great he is. Getting good grades in high school and going to Yale does not make you automatically a good person or incapable of sexual assault while you were drunk. I don't believe he *never* had a black out, not for one minute with the way Judge and others have described his drinking. He may not remember it specifically, but I think he's afraid it is true, because he knows how he behaved back then.

He seems like another guy with such a high opinion of himself who is outraged that he is being called to the carpet for past bad behavior and resents that he is being questioned at all.

I found her testimony much more believable.

Same here. Libs went over the top this time.

Your post was asking for it.

We can talk that way now that the GOP has put another man with sexual assault issues in power.

Frankly, Dr Ford did herself no favors today. The naive little girl act was ridiculous. She came across as a very dim bulb.

so you hope. So trump hoped. So Kavanaugh hoped.
She was completely convincing. Kavanaugh - what we know now is he has no self control and he was pretty much the epitome of every lawyer joke about lawyers being assholes.

Everyone watching can believe he is a rapist when he drinks. Everyone.

It is generally agreed that Ford was extremely convincing. Even journalists at Fox News thought so.

Kavanaugh, sadly, destroyed himself. He came across as the aggressive entitled frat boy he is. Even without any other reasons to disqualify him, based on his whiny yet belligerent attitude this afternoon, this unbalanced person has no business around the Supreme Court. A Supreme Court Judge should never let herself or himself be provoked to respond in such an immature way. I cringed for his poor wife.

Yes. He made it all about himself, not the country. The country deserves to have this hearing and more than this hearing, an investigation. If he is being vetted for the highest court in the land he should willingly submit to it in a calm and dignified manner. Forget the theatrics and political grandstanding. He was being ridiculous. He knew this was a political spectacle to be adjudicated by Trump's base and he could care less about the millions of other Americans out there whom he serves, including survivors like Dr. Ford.
