Who is paying for all the structure and support to manage these cases? Who is planning for adding the hospitals, schools, police, fire, ambulance (with a set of Spanish speaking providers) in all of the above? Be it legal or illegal - the country has no short term adjudication process or long term infrastructure plan to support the massive numbers of asylum seekers. "Sit down"? yes - when you get out your wallet, PP, and pay the bill. |
That data has been questioned. The stores that closed wanted to close. The data has rebunked. |
Will you be willing to accept the tax consequences of processing and supporting these folks? You okay when you child does not get the quality education or health care they deserve because your local government wanted to take in as many migrants that they can without a plan? |
And yet MAGA believes that the convicted felon is better for the economy. Nobody ever said MAGA suffered from too may brain cells, did they? |
+100 You won't get an answer to that question. And if you do, it will be a blatant lie. |
Because it doesn't address any of the systemic issues that need a legislative solution. It was a performative bill that was dead before it reached the senate. |
"these folks" have been coming to the country since long before you, me and any of our families have been here (unless you are a native American) - any new immigrant is going to have more grit and work harder than most of the lazy a$$ Americans born here. Process? Happy to pay for it. Supporting? They won't need our support because they are yearning to do any work to support themselves and their families, even the worst jobs that native born Americans won't do. Our education system, if properly supported and not raped by "charter schools" and the rip-off Christian schools that are supported by tax dollars, can more than accomodate English as a second language and assimilation programs to give immigrant kids from any country, a chance. |
Please come sub or better yet, enter a career switcher program to be a teacher. We need you. You have an unrealistic view of what’s going on and obviously want to help. Come help us in the schools. Yes, all kids deserve a chance but it’s not at all like you describe and they are not all here with grit and ready to work. Some are almost adults and have had little to no education in any country. - a current teacher Here’s the info on how you can start right now. https://www.fcps.edu/career-switcher |
+1 This is all true. |
Trump would be a huge disaster. HUGE! Picture hand motion, both hands moving rapidly right and left. Huge! |
Very true but let us not forget that the children of the immigrants were subject to the choices made by their parents and while in our hands, any and every child deserves all the love and attention we can possibly give them. As a teacher, I'm sure that's exactly what you are giving them. Thank you for your service. If our lawmakers could spend a day in your shoes, they's be more willing to do their jobs. |
The WaPo had a lengthy article that detailed all the u truths presented at the DNC as facts, including the “jobs data”. Dig deeper folks. |
Fake news. Cite? |
I have watched and learned. Since I graduated from high school, businesses have created fifty times more jobs under Democratic administrations than Republican administrations. |
+1 The big issue with our public schools is that our society does not adequately value education. The teaching profession should be better respected. We need to give teachers more time and support to do their jobs. Bring in more specialists and support staff. Give adequate planning time. All of this requires money that Republicans are unwilling to shell out. Some are even trying to sabotage our schools to make the case for vouchers. They want taxpayers to subsidize their kids’ private school education. You get what you pay for. |
