Alternatively, Meghan and Harry become seen as greedy and out of touch due to their huge speaking fees and trying to build a fortune out of just being the next Karadashians rather than anything sincere and Meghan is still unhappy and the great Sussex divorce happens in about five years and Harry goes back to the UK alone.

Meanwhile Will and Kate do the actual duty and become widely and quietly respected for their pragmatism and stiff upper lip and duty to the British state. And they've got Meghan out of the picture.

The Queen is never stepping down. She doesn't do abdication. So your theory is destroyed by your lack of knowledge of the monarchy and what it actually does.

But she is under public pressure to step down from some quarters, and this gives her another excuse. Honestly, though, she's almost 94. She won't live that much longer.

Megan and Harry are extremely popular especially with progressive to moderates, under 65 crowd, multinationals etc. They'll do fine. The people that hate them like the crazy poster have always hated them. The racist older white lady demographic has never been a part of their brand.

Canada will do well too. One paper estimated that Harry and Megan brought in over 2B to England in tourism. Canada does not have anything at the level of the Sussex family and their choosing Canada will help Canadain tourism.

The pressure to step down is coming from Charles aides who have been trying to push things along and accelerate things. This will stall that for a bit. She'll step aside eventually when she becomes ill.

they are relatively popular with progressives as progressive royals. and they would continue to be so because progressives would continually side with vs more conservative members of the royal family. but the calculus changes significantly if they are not royals. it’s nice that they are progressive and all but not all that interesting especially as they get older. who will care about them 15 years from now? they used to be royals and they were a big deal once but progressives ultimately don’t care about royalty of any sort. it was only in their role as “bad royals” that they were interesting.
